This school DOES have it going on! The staff and principal really care about students. This is the best of all area middle schools....standardized test performance and meeting the needs of students. If you care about you children and grandchildren, this is where they should attend school.

The principal at Grant seems to have given up. The majority of teachers are burnt out and don't give a care anymore. Don't get me wrong, there are several GREAT teachers at Grant that still do care and want their students to learn and actually take the time to make learning fun by engaging the kids! The dress code is a joke as it isn't applied to everyone. The bullies at Grant are horrible. The language I hear from the students before and after school is just disgusting coming from young kids mouths. My son is having a really bad experience because of this school. All it takes is ONE bad teacher to switch kids off from wanting to learn.... so sad

Grant is just Unsatisfactory. Try the school out then taken them elsewhere.. The principal just really don't seem to care anymore.

I am a student at Grant MS. There is a distance between us kids and teachers. This is my first and only year. I will head back to my home school next year. We thought it was a great school..oh....it's just a disappointment.

ha umm all these parents dont know what there talking about.they dont go there,theyre just exagerating.grant is a good school ,all the teacher are really nice,and the principle Mrs. Villareal is strict cause she just wants us to be nicer looking and stuff...yes there is voilence but its easy to avoid it,just dont get into it!

The school has a very unprofessional scope and curriculum and unprofessional staff as well. I fear for the safety of my child at this school and violence seems to be an issue. Pulled my kiddo out (had him tested into the GT program at Baker and absolutely love it), wouldn't recommend Grant.

This school is not a safe school, yes there are some good teachers there, but the prfessionals in the office are definatly not professional! I would not reccomend this school to anyone except those who which to have their children in sports, and there is even a history in that dept. My children now attend a private school.

I have two sons attending this great school and I have nothing but positive things to say. From the principal to the teachers, all show great leadership and know how to motivate the kids. I would recommend this school to anyone who is moving into the CCISD.

This school has a ver poor professional attitude! The teachers range from great to poor. The safety issuses are a huge concern, and the moral ethics exspectations are very low.

It seems as though the school is run with the worse-case scenario in mind, and I don't think that's the best approach for our kids--especially since the majority of them are good kids. As with any institution, I suppose, some of the instructors are amazing--inspiring even; two 8th grade teachers come to mind immediately. Others, it seems are trapped in the middle school mentality; they sound and act like middle schoolers themselves.

My son was promoted to 8th grade with a 7th grade education. He is repeating 7th grade because his test scores at a Montessori school indicated he needed to be retaught. My son skipped school for 3 days ON CAMPUS walking the halls. They then sent a letter trying to blame it on ME saying I would have to pay a fine. This is how I was notified of his misconduct! The girls are allowed to wear skimpy clothing with their butt-cracks showing and tight shirts, but if a boy has an extra pocket on his pants, oh that is out of dresscode.

Grant has been a really big disappointment. They use whistles in the cafateria. Most of the teachers are nice but a few are pretty mean.

Grant has been a big joke to all parents whos child is attending this school.First of all the principals talk and treat the students as if they were in some kind of prison.Thier teachers are rude to the students. Now I think that is unecceptable.Grant middle school is a discrase to all parents.

This school has been a big disappointment! We moved to this district based on the school reputation of being the best in CCISD. If this is the best, I would hate to see the worst. The principle has a cavalier attitude towards the kids safety and achievement. The school teaches to the lowest common denominator and the children that need to be challenged are the ones who suffer. Our son is in the 6th grade and the English class is a joke, our 2nd grade has more difficult spelling words than our 6th grader. We are looking to transfer after the school year.

In 2012-2013, the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) was used to test students in reading and math in grades 3 through 8; in writing in grades 4 and 7; in science in grades 5 and 8; in social studies in grade 8; and end-of-course assessments for English I, II, and II, Algebra I and II, biology and US History. STAAR is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Texas. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.

The different student groups are identified by the Texas Education Agency; if there are a small number of students in a particular group, the state doesn't report data for that group.
