Generally there has been gradual improvement over the past few years in terms of TAKS scores but I see huge problems in two areas. The first area is with the experience level of the teachers. Compared to state averages, the experience level of the teachers is disproportionate. Over 40% of CISD teachers have less than 5 years experience and over 30% of the teachers have over 21 years experience!!! Either they're really young or really old!!!. Secondly, the average spent per student is well over $9000 within CISD. The state average is under $7500. This again doesn't make any sense to me. An under-performing school that spends 20% more per student than state averages? BOOOO CISD
Crockett High School is a school working to change to become stronger academically. There are many fine teachers and qualified advanced placement teachers who have been committed to Crockett for many years. We have an outstanding sports program and theatre program. The band program is going through changes and hopefully will rebuild under new leadership. Parent participation is good. Most parents seem to really care about the education and opportunities for development for our students.
The school ignores the arts and acidemics for sports. Whites are discriminated daily by students and faculty. Funding is sent to the wrong places. Students are herded like cattle in a building without windows or any other way to get out in a fire.
