I have had multiple issues with this school from the staff making fun of my daughters shoes to students not being able to communicate with each other due to a language barrier. I have had two children in this school and transferred them both over to Polk due to these issues. Your questions, complaints or concerns fall on deaf ears when dealing with the staff. Good luck if you live in this area as it is slowly but surely going down hill..

The Nov. 27 post is rather misleading referring to the spelling of 'quelity'. The post is making reference to a 2005 post by a parent criticizing the school. The comment is directed towards the school. I have had two very successful children attend Dan F. Long and continue to admire the educational package occurring.

About the tests


In 2012-2013, the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) was used to test students in reading and math in grades 3 through 8; in writing in grades 4 and 7; in science in grades 5 and 8; in social studies in grade 8; and end-of-course assessments for English I, II, and II, Algebra I and II, biology and US History. STAAR is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Texas. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.

The different student groups are identified by the Texas Education Agency; if there are a small number of students in a particular group, the state doesn't report data for that group.
