I'm a former student I'm currently attending Texas Tech University and I atribute art of me being here to this school. We moved a lot when I was young but the most learning I ever had and that I still remember was from the wonderful teachers I had at Burnet. They are lively and understanding of one's situations, they really do cater to our needs as students. The PTA is a bit childish and don't allow for things to get done, they want the head to always take the praise for what some of the newer members do. Over all I had a great experience and I wouldn't trade it for any other.

Our level of parent involvement is very low. Parents can's speak the language and that is a problem with parent, teacher communication. Also, parents can't help their children because some cannot read or write. Student discipline is a big problem because most of the students come from a background of passive or no discipline in the home. We have very young students that are latch key kids and go home to an empty house because both parents are working night jobs or a second job due to lack of education and low pay. Many students come to us with sever emotional problems ( from abuse or are ADHA ) and need help. We have some excellent teachers but they are overwhelmed with the hugh amount of testing and paper work that they do. Instruction time is less each year.
