Pitty should be felt for the students at this school. The principla does not care for anyone but herself and her little friends. She is very good at hiding the truth. Like the kid in kindergarten that walked out of the school a couple of weeks ago and the teachers didn even noticed that she was gone. The kid cross two streets and went to a store to order food. Luckly her grandpa was there. The principal chose not to do nothing about it so it wont be known in public how indfifient she is,
This West Dallas school is on the rise. Historically underfunded, it has a superb, caring principal who has done wonders over the last five years. There has been enormous turnover with teachers as the principal goes through the laborious task of replacing the old, terrible teachers with good ones. Come visit this school and you will see hopeful, well-behaved kids who get a lot of love at Earhart but struggle with disinterested parents at home. Some challenges: 65% of the school is Hispanic but only a few teachers speak Spanish. At least 20% of the kids arrive each day hungry because they did not get breakfast at home. I mentor a child here and I've seen a lot of care and effort being put into improving Earhart. This school is finally getting some outside support and will continue to get better and better.
Terrible leadership starting with the principal. She does not address the troubled kids and the discipline that is out of control at that school. Teachers spend more time dealing with bad kids and irresponsible parents than good kids
The climate at Amelia Earhart Learning Center is not conducive to student growth and maturity parrying all hope for academic achievment. Upon visting I was flabbergasted and left nonplussed by the pervasive harsh tone used to address the students. The school desperately needs change.
