Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I am so glad this school is closing, the principal and teachers are the worst they scheduled parents/teacher conferences without any confirmation from the parent and the assistant principal (acting principal) he is a joke and I hope none of them ever work with kids again. Parents please get into the habit of asking which schools the teacher has taught at if you hear Hulcy Middle School, Dallas, TX get ready for trouble. I pray that I am done with DISD.

I attended Hulcy when it was built and eventually graduated from DW Carter in 1977. We started out on the 2nd floor of Atwell Jr High School. When the building(Hulcy) was completed my classmates and I were the first class. Parentsmust be actively involved in the education process. That means scheduling parent and teacher meetings. You can't just send your children to school and expect great results. Education is a team effort. My brothers also attended Hulcy in the 70s and early 80s. We have all become working members in our great country...The USA.

This is a very bad school with substitutes instead of full time teachers. teachers are supposed to set an example in a good way and instead i have seen my child's teacher smoking weed in a parking lot of a store. Its a ridiculous school.

Parents who say that they are not pleased with D.A. Hulcy. Hulcy just like other schools have parent conferences that only a small amount of parents attend. Hulcy has a PTA that small amount of parents join. (by the way all faculty and staff is apart of). Hulcy's teachers have planning periods designed to conference with parents that they don't show up for. If you are not pleased with the way the building is ran than do something about it. Have you called the admin. building to voice your complaints? Have you joined PTA? Did/Do you attend parent conferences? Have you did pop in on your children? Do you talk to your kids when they receive progress reports. If your child fails a class do you conference with the teacher? Teachers give homework, Do you ask you child do they have it?

This school to me is the worst school in the Polk and Wheatland Area. Kids never have homework, the staff is no good including the principals. When it comes to the parent going to the school to find out what's going on they talk to you like you are one of the kids. Like it was told to me they cannot handle the kids in the school at all.

DA Hulcy has made a great improvement from last year. The school's climate is great. I was visiting my child's class and I was overly impressed with the instruction of the teachers and the attention the children gave to instruction. I think this school is well on it's way to being one of the best in Dallas

I spent my second semester of my 7th grade year at Hulcy Middle School. It was one of the worst schools I went to in life. They never gave any attention to the students. Most students say the only thing they learned was how to cheat on a test. It's a school I'd never send my child to. If I'd have, It'd be for punishment.

I was not pleased with the education or lack thereof that my child received at Hulcy. The 6th grade teachers never gave any homework and basically provided a babysitting service for my child. I was shocked that they were rated acceptable. I would never send another child to that school again!
