My Son started out in the 10th grade and has now progressed to 11th. My daughter started out in 8th grade and now is in 9th. We were advised of the strictness of the school and what to expect to a certain degree. I sincerly believe if the school had many more opportunities for extra curricular activities. Academically wise they are progressing in a good direction but I do believe at times they can overload the kids. The communciation between parents and teachers needs to become more solid. Parent involvement needs to increase. Overall the school is really good, not great. There is room for improvement. We come out of Cedar Hill ISD so it was a change for the kids especially with the attire but it is doable. The biggest complaint my kids have had to date is that there is not enough for them to be involved in but to hear my 1th grader say at the end of the day he knows he will be able to attend college as a result of his efforts makes it all the while as the school and families do partner together to focus on the children going to college and making it once they get there.
Hampton is the Best School I have been too... Yet there are some students who do not act educational in some ways but myself I am glad that I Came here. Next year I will Be a Junior and I will Become a Role-Model towards others. I do Think they're too strict with the uniforms but It helps when we are on our own in the world. I like all my teachers and the teachers I don't meet as much.
Excellent school! Love the zero tolerance they enforce. All of my children attend. They don't particularly like it because its strict. The learning environment is great. I think they need to work on more qualified teachers with lots of experience. Other than that, I do not have to worry about behavior problems, peer pressure or bullying. The staff is very accountable for their actions and the communication the school has with the parents is above & beyond. I LOVE HAMPTON PREP!!!! My kids have a chance to become strong leaders.
I went here for 2 years. I barely got to learn anything because the teachers were bussy yelling at the bad kids to actually help the smart ones. I honestly was glad to leave the school. It would probly be better if the checked your records and stopped accepting every child who applys...
This is the first year my son has been at the school having said that i was told many things would happen and of course some of those things never happened or they happened and didn't work. that was to be expected knowing this is a young school. MR. Harris has made some changes and there will be more changes to come. some people don't like that but for me the only way to find the right direction is make the right changes when something doesn't work. i will be bring my son back in 2012 i mean after all (14 kids move on to college with 1.5 million in funds between them to help them on their way. LOL can't be all bad - you do the math - my son is in kinder and he already did the math so i'm good that.
My 8th-grade male enrolled when Hamp first opened. I absolutely loved the school. But a lot of classes were unruly and at the time those teachers did not seem able to control the classes. My own child's discipline was not the best. It broke my heart but I sent him back to public school. I did not want him to contribute to the unruly problem. I feel certain that the school has improved those shortcomings. I wish the best for a great future for Hamp P
My children have been at Hampton Prep for two years. I like the school and what it stands for, but I don't believe it hires the most qualified teachers. If it is going to be a college prep school then ensure that your staff understands the accountability that comes with that. They have a very high teacher and administration turnover rate. They also need to train they teachers in better classroom management so they can stop yelling so much and then maybe they can get the art of teaching down to a science.
My children have attended this school since it opened 2007/2008 school year. Since it opened the Directors of this school have always made promises that are not kept. I really like this school and hope that they will soon start to practice what they preach!!!!!!
My daughter is in her second year at Hampton Prep. I picked this school, with the understanding that it would help prepare my child for college. But I found that not to be the case. I like the school, and I'm taking in to account that the school is just starting out. So I know that it takes time to get everything on track. I hope that they can, if so, then I believe it can be an excellent school.
I understand that the uniform is very strict But as a parent... I think that for a child to be sent home because of wrong uniform such as a certain type of belt , or a hardly seen emblem on a name brand shoe is kind of harsh. Overall the schools academic level is amazing
