Profile Completeness

ADVANCED

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I go to the Dallas Environmental Science Academy (DESA) and it is cool. We have a lot of fun learning and all that stuff and in May we get to go to Glen Rose. The 6th graders go for 2 days, 1 night, 7th & 8th graders go for 3 days and 2 nights. DESA is an amazing school, and as a student I recommend it.

I went to this school all three years of middle school. I had the best experience there and I had so much fun and I learns a lot of new things. The teachers were very fun and they each had their own way of making learning interesting like Mr. Sobinovski, he had us make a lot of foldables and projects to help us learn and it worked for me, he was very funny as well which made it even better. Every year we went to Glen Rose, TX and let me just say going away for those three days on the trip were one the best things we did. We were with our friends having fun but yet we were still learning at the same time. I miss this school, all my friends, and all the teachers that helped me get through it and I wish I could go back again.

A public school with a private school education!!! I just love this school. My daughter will enter her freshmen year with 4 credits. I'm just sad to say this is her last year at this school. The staff are like family and they have been just wonderful since day one. They always have my daughters best interested in mind. Oh, and if you are a go green fanatic like my daughter. This is the school for you!!!!!! They are also a BLUE RIBBON SCHOOL.

This school is absolutely fantastic! It is one of the best kept secrets here in the DFW area. Definitely one of the best public schools that STATE OF TEXAS has to offer. My younger sister is currently enrolled there and loves it.

This is an excellent school. I've never seen a principal who is as caring and dedicated to a school. The leadership I see is awesome! This school prepares our children for the future.

I was a student in D.E.S.A. two years ago, this was kind of akward for me at first because of the small campus, but once you get to know the teachers, you actually are happy being surrounded by people you know very well. It really has that feeling of people being related because you get to know everybody(all 200 students)and also the teachers are great!!!!Even thou Mrs.Glahn and Mr.obinovsky and Mrs.Fuller are hard teachers who expect allot from you, its all worth it every six weeks because you are proud of your grade(even thou you would get a 70 for algebra 1 pre-ap)it's a great accomplishemtn for me because once i got to high school, i was urrounded by sophmores and juniors(i was one of the 2 freshman in that class)Overall people are great Ms.Watson was amazing, teachers are super nice and super sweet, Glen Rose was a blast!!!!Love this school!

I was a student there. It's a great environment to be in. The teachers care about us students. Unlike the other teachers I had, the teachers here are actually willing to stay after school to tutor us. We really didn't mind if there wasn't any extra curricular activities. We get to choose an activity for advisory and friends are easy to make. What I like about this school is that its small and you get to know everyone. The field trip at Glen Lakes is all worth it the wait. If you want your child to get accepted to Townview (which is one of the best schools in the whole nation), apply your child to this school because they could get easily accepted to SEM, TAG, Health, or any of the other clusters they have. Trust me, I got accepted thanks to D.E.S.A.

My child gets on a bus at 6:30am every morning to get to this school! It's well worth the 3 hour a day commute. Although the student body suffers from the usual middle school 'stuff', the teachers keep it from influencing the classroom. The only negative I would have is the lack of after school activities and extracurricular activities. There is a one time a year field trip. The current interim Principal seems less interested than the previous Principal, but the staff are excellent!

I believe this is an excellent school. The teachers work extremely hard with the students and make learning exciting. The teachers know their students and have a one on one relationship with them. The students are pretty well behaved. I had the pleasure of volunteering as a chaperone on a field trip last school year. These are good kids that are exciting about learning. The principal should be commended as well. Ms. Watson is a great leader who seems to have high expectations for the students and her staff. The state and district should continue to fund this type of school. What they are doing is really working!!

Strong curriculum and an atmosphere that encourages parental input. Students take many field trips that integrate into the environmental science curriculum.
