Our kid has been in this school since 3rd grade. We have observed the types of teachers in this school. Teachers that care about their kids. There is not a high teacher turnover either. Throughout the years our kid has enjoyed the chess & soccer programs. This year she is in the leadership council. Piano & Spanish classes are especially excellent. I particularly have liked the montessori methods & the international perspective in the latter years. I like the diversity of the school. Its not all anglo, all hispanic or african-american. Theres a good mix - which reminds me of my middle school in NY. One criticism i do have is the disciplinary issues with boys in 7th-8th grade. I feel that some of the test scores and stats for those grades are negatively affected by these kids. They should be expelled! Bus program brings in kids from all over the city which is great. PTA is very active and do a great job of fundraising for the school. There are annual schools fairs, plays and various bake sales. Theres always something going on after school. We like this school so much that after our 4yr old completes pre-k through 1st grade in a bilingual program we will send her to Dealey too.

Our son is in the second grade. His teacher is so encouraging. He loves the Montessori lessons and I'm amazed at the academic level second graders are expected to achieve. He is involved in cub scouts, chess club, and violin lessons.

The school has some wonderful qualities but it's not for every child. There is a pro-girl bias, which is great for well-behaved girls but a problem with active boys. Also, they do have a wonderful orchestra program that follows a modified Suzuki method. There is weak leadership but a very strong extracurricular program. This includes chess and tennis.

Dealey is a wonderful school. The teachers are great. In case you didn't know it is a blue ribbon middle school. My daughter had a good time while learning. This is a wonderful Montessori Academy. Go Dragons!
