Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

My kids attended this school for two months when we bought a house nearby. We were stoked about it until my kids (who made A's and B's in advanced placement classes at their previous school) started failing. One teacher would hold up an entire class (6th grade) if a few of the students were misbehaving. It was my son's last class, so he wouldn't come to the car until 10 minutes after school was out. When I asked the teacher about it, she said she wouldn't change her rules. I have been waiting for TWO MONTHS now to recoup my money spent on their lunch accounts. It took the office a week to transfer the school records to my children's new schools. Would not recommend this school for anyone.

My child attended this school this year and it has been turned into a military boot camp for students from somewhere else. This was the worst school my daughter has attended. She is not challenged and her teachers do not care about her bettering her education. She is stressed out and for the first time was bullied in her first week by a fellow student. The dean of dicipline does not care and im surprised students are still coming here. Duncanville was a much better fit for her although i will teach her to hang out with the right crowd because peer pressure is strong now. Please do your child and yourself a favor by not exposing them to the drugs , sex , and drama at harmony school of nature and athletics. My child was harrased and they left a rude voicemail on her phone threatening her. Worst school ever.

It's okay, I guess. Has a sort of cozy feel to it since there are so little people. Teachers are pretty good, depending on which ones you have. Wouldn't recommend the school lunch though. Beautiful view from the many windows in the classrooms :-) The classes are pretty rigorous but you'll get used to it. 3 stars

in terms of an education, harmony is a pretty good school, i am a sophomore at this school, and i have been attending since the school opened. a key factor though that makes me give the school is the heavy focus on education...while many parents may believe that an education is what my child needs to be successful n the corporate world, but what a child really needs is a well rounded experience of life early so that they can understand the meaning of a truly successful life where you are able and ready to attack life with a multitude of views other than the one you learn from a book

I could not say enough great things about the school, teachers, and leadership. This school offers rigorous, challenging academic programs and extra-curricula activities including gardening, archery, fencing clubs. This is our third year and we are very proud to be Harmony Tiger!

-Its' a good school, but needs funding for experienced teachers. My daughter is an accelerated student and makes good grades, but now she is bored; been at Harmony since the doors opened -Need to enforce rules that are in place. -Front office needs organization -Phys Ed should be required for all students, both semesters not just one. -Quality of Student Enrollment - are you still interviewing the parents and the kids before accepting them? If not, go back to interviewing to keep the riff raft out before the school goes down. -Ditch the chrome books. They require less interaction. Truth be told, many of the students don't like them. And, the c/ books have made some of your teachers lazy... -Need sponsors for extracurricular activities if you want well rounded students, not robots. -School needs to be more visible in the community it's located in We will consider Harmony for another year to see if things turn around. I have a younger child that starts kindergarten 2014-15, but already having issues with paperwork. This seems to be an ongoing problem with your front office.

My children are in their 3rd year at Harmony. I have 2 in elementary and one in middle school. I am extremely happy with the education they have received at Harmony. I have experienced good communication with teachers and they seem to genuinely care about the students' education. It's a safe environment and the administration staff are on top of discipline issues. There is a reward system for students who exhibit appropriate school behavior and a discipline system for those students that don't exhibit appropriate behavior. Also, there are character education classes that address real issues and encourages students to make the right choices in life. The curriculum is good and shared with parents via the website. They welcome parent feedback through an annual survey. I would strongly recommend this school to any parent.

We have our 1st child attended this school when it first opened, and now the 2nd one was also attended the same school in elementary. We are very happy so far. The discipline system is great. Teachers comminicate well with parents. Everytime we send emails with questions, we always get the reply back within that same day. We also want to mention about the Gifted & Talented (GT) program at Harmony that one of our kids is currently in this program. We are very pleased with teachers who are in-charged for the program. Teachers are very nice, thoughful and well care for students. They make sure students work hard on the projects, but not stop students from being creative and think outside of the box. One day during the conversation, our son (7yrs old at that time) said "there is no biggest number because you can always add 1 to it." We were so suprised when he told us that he learned it in the GT class. Our kids are currently in elementary so we don't know about middle school yet, but so far we are happy and our kids are happy.

Harmony School of Nature has a wonderful nature based curriculum that allows students to explore the outdoors and discover the unique ecosystems of Texas. Students at Harmony have the opportunity to travel abroad during Spring Break and in the Summer. They offer AP and Dual credit classes so that the students have the opportunity to graduate with college credit. I really enjoy the students, parents and staff at Harmony.

this school is one of the best schools i have ever attended! my previous school treated me different just because of the color of my skin, and at this school i am measured on my personality and my mind. Here they have taught me i am more then a stereo type, and i am more then a test score or a GPA.They have also introduced new ideas and global concepts that have inspired me to change the way i think. Here i have learned and experienced other cultures and different types of people that all accept you because of who you are.AND another positive i have been over seas with my school! how many people can say they have been to turkey?much less have been before they turn 18! yeah we may not have a huge class or other thing others have but we have teachers that care and a home away from home and for that i am thankful to Harmony School of Nature and Athletics.

I've been a proud Harmony School of Nature parent since the school first opened. Actually one of my children (now in middle school) spent one year in public school and then transferred to Harmony in 2nd grade. We haven't looked back since. I've seen Harmony Nature overcome seemingly insurmountable odds and move forward with great strides. The administration is very focused and approachable. Not only does this school cater to my children's academic needs but it also instills a healthy respect for diversity. I can honestly say that this school is an awesome place for my children.

The behavior in the classrooms is impressive at Harmony. When I walk down the hallway, the students are well behaved and respectful. Even the kindergartens know how to act and pay attention. This is a refreshing change from our old school. Keep up the good work!

I had two boys in Harmony since the day this location opened. During that time it's been a revolving door of teachers and policies on how to handle problem students. My youngest started kindergarden and loved it. My oldest started in the 5th grade and spent 3 years being ruthlessly bullied. The administration at this school does not enforce it's own rules and does not support the teachers. I've known teachers that have left this school because some kids are allowed go undisciplined. If your child is a victim of bullying they are punished along with the bully. I'm speaking from experience and not malice. I volunteered at the school every morning and tried very hard to help, but it was heart breaking to hear and even see my son be relentlessly bullied. Even after getting the bulling caught on tape, my son was punished for defending himself in a 3 on 1 situation during gym class. The reason given was he should have ignored it. The root of the problem with this Harmony school goes all of the way to the top of the Administration. The leadership is weak and unsupportive of teachers and the kids know it. Repeat offenders have figured out the loopholes and use to to there advantage.

The staff is great. My child is now reading above grade level. This school has a plan of action to make sure all kids are headed in the right direction.

This school is horrible. It's been taken over by ghetto students, and the teachers are horrible. My child has been bullied here to the point that she skips school. Her math teacher only gives them packets, and even when she went into tutoring, her grades still didn't raise. The students are rude, and the teachers are only there for the paycheck. It has been a living nightmare at this school. DO NOT ENROLL YOUR CHILDREN IN THIS SCHOOL!

Please think twice before enrolling your student in this school. This school has great marketing but that is it. The school claims to be big on Science and Robotics (you have to pay for and it is after school & the club was cancelled this year). The students are not challenged and the administration is horrible. Too many chiefs and no Indians. They honestly don t know what they are doing up there.
