I would also disagree with the opinion that it is not a good school for kids w/ learning differences. Our son is on the autism spectrum and so far (2nd year), both the in-house staff as traveling district therapists have been great. Exceeded expectations. Very involved parent involvemet, too.
I completely disagree with the review that states Moss Haven is not a good school for children with learning differences. My daughter has learning differences, and her teachers, the counselor and other staff have bent over backwards to accommodate her needs. We meet regularly to discuss her progress, and I communicate with the teachers daily. Her reading skills have improved tenfold after discovering her differences and making appropriate accommodations. The school has a very close knit, family feel - a throwback to when neighbors all watched out for each other's children. There is a huge sense of community at Moss Haven and within the neighborhoods that Moss Haven serves. Moss Haven is a loving environment where students thrive.
Terrible school for students with learning issues. Not tolerant at all. Principle is an @ss for lack of a better term. Constantly finding faults with children instead of building up their self esteem. I will be moving from this neighborhood to find a better shool and district that can best fit my childs needs. Moss Haven is definetly not it.
Great School with oustanding parent participation. Nice teachers and plenty of activities within the community. Large amount of involvement and fundraising for the school with exemplary results.
Not a great school for a child with learning differences, especially with the blended classes. Great parent involvement though. Lots of teacher turnover.
Unparalled parent involvement.. excellent teachers and amazing staff and leadership quality!!! We're lucky to have our son attend this wonderful little elementary school
We love Moss Haven! It is an exceptional school in a wonderful neighborhood. I currently have 2 children that attend Moss Haven and I am so impressed with the way the teachers meet each child where they are and make sure they get the instruction they need...be it gifted or challenged. We enjoy the mulit-age classroom, I see that it provides the children in the older grade a great opportunity to be leaders and help the younger students. All of our teachers are certified to teach Gifted & Talented students, and they bring those teaching/learning atributes to all the students to give them the best experience possible. Our parent involvement at MHE is outstanding...we work hard to help out, and have a lot of fun too.
Great school and leadership. The teachers are excellent as well as the administrative staff. The kids are well maner and polite. We bought our house after visiting the school and we have not been dissapointed.
Mosshaven Elementary is an extraordinary school in many ways. Academically, it meets the needs of all its students, be they gifted or challenged with great in-house programs in place so that all students can succeed. The sense of community within the school spreads across all socio-economic levels and the feeling of inclusion and protection of all students is something that is very special to Mosshaven. The PTA is exemplary in this school and supports the school both financialy and with volunteer hours and the school administration encourages parent involvement and is always open to all communication. My child has thrived academically at Mosshaven but I am most proud of the emphasis that is placed on being caring, nurturing and responsible members of their community and teaching all students to be 'Good Citizens'.
Our MHE experience has been incredible! Both my children have previously attended private schools and the quality of the teachers and curriculum at MHE is as strong or better. My children participate in accelerated math and reading programs as well as in the gifted and talented program (G/T). One great feature about Moss Haven is that their G/T program is taught onsight - students do not have to commute to attend and those same instructors (who are trained in G/T) teach their regular classes. This allows them participate in expanded learning whenever appropriate in all subjects with teachers who understand their needs. The PTA funds reading specialists to focus on students who need additional help, so MHE supports students on both ends of the spectrum. With over $100,000 in annual support from the PTA, MHE makes sure that ALL children get the education they need in a loving environment!
Moss Haven Elementary is top notch. It is one of the finest elementary schools in Dallas, public or private. We have two children and have experienced the private school world and Moss Haven far exceeds the expectations that we had when we moved our children into the school district. The teachers and the administrators know the students and not one single student is overlooked. It is a very warm, nurturing environment. The parent involvement is fantastic. The amount of money the PTA raises each year is unheard of in a public school setting. The academic programs are super. Moss Haven is a wonderful place. I would highly recommend this school to anyone. You can search all over and I truly believe you will not find another school as great as Moss Haven.
Moss Haven is truly a gem. Our kindergartener has thrived at this school. It has amazing parent involvement, talented teachers, and great leadership. Fundraising is on par with much wealthier schools in the Park Cities. If you have concerns about the school, or you are considering private school, please come and take a tour. You will find a warm, close-knit community that celebrates academic achievement.
A high level of parent involvement and a dedication to diversity and the worth of all children are the hallmarks of this suburban school host to immigrant children.
Moss Haven has been a great school for our child and we look forward to our second child starting there this year. The parent involvement is very high through the PTA and new Dad's Club. The two grade together system (1 & 2 grade together, then 3 & 4 grade together, and then 5 & 6 grade together) has worked very well for our first child and we feel it will work well for our second child as well. The PTA is very strong in this school. Overall a greate school!
The parent involvement is high here but teacher quality is a concern as well as the blended classes. that does not work for many children - esp. boys or those with learning differences. too much distraction for them I think.
Moss Haven Elementary appears to addressing my son's curicular needs. He is achieving and improving in Math, Reading and some difficulty with writing. Parent involvement is good but away from school extracurricular activities are the parents and kids responsibility to arrange. The teachers are adequate.
great music teacher and art teacher. Problems with multi languages spoken by children in school. lots of parent involvement however. They do their best.
