Northwood Hills Elementary is an awesome school! We chose to live in the neighborhood of Northwood Hills, in part, because of this exemplary school. NHE s leadership team is outstanding, and the faculty and support staff are excellent and highly qualified as well. Parental involvement is so important to student success and this school s academic team truly supports and works closely with students' families in working toward high achievement for each and every student in this wonderfully diverse school community. Our children have received an excellent education at this academically rigorous school and are fully prepared for a successful future! We actively considered all schooling options (including private schools) and we determined that Northwood Hills Elementary offered our family the best educational opportunity. We are so glad we made the choice for our children to attend this real world public school! NHE Rocks!

NHE has it ALL- great teachers, strong principal/ leadership, challenging academic programs and clubs, diversity, but most importantly- PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT! Parental support is a long-standing tradition at NHE, and that is what truly makes it a warm and loving neighborhood school! We have very high standards of education, and NHE has met every single one! Sincerely- an involved parent!

We chose the neiggborhood because of its charm and character. At the time, we thought we would be sending our oldest to a private school. After visiting the school we thought we would give it a try. We're so glad that we did. The teachers are wonderful and responsive. Our son has made some wonderful friends. We have also gotten to know our neighbors and our neighborhood better through the school.

My husband grew up in the neighborhood and we chose the neighborhood and the school before every looking at a single house. The teachers and staff are part of our family and we could not imagine going anywhere else. Try this school before you spend a dime on a private school. You will be glad you did and you and your kids will benefit from knowing your neighbors.

I moved to Dallas 9 years ago. Before i chose a house I visited school districts and schools. I will never forget my first visit to Northwood Hlls. Everyone was HAPPY, the students, the staff, the principal..it just felt right. Of course I checked on test scores, etc, could not be happier. I CHOSE Northwood Hills, our 3rd child is still there, this is a fabulous school with fabulous teachers. My older 2 were well prepared for junior high.

We love our neighborhood school! What a wonderful community to be involved with. The staff, teachers and parents make this school so fulfilling for our child in kindergarten. The teachers are very dedicated and go above and beyond. Our child is getting a exceptional education in a nurturing and diverse setting. The PTA works hard to make this school what it is and we couldn't be any happier.

Northwood Hills is a family that includes incredible staff, dedicated parents and precious kids from many walks of life. Class sizes tend to be smaller than most, we were lucky enough to have 16 kids to a class, with a max of 22. The only reason this school is not a perfect 10 is due to the methodology of this survey, about a third of the kids are on subsidized lunch and a fair number are learning English as a second language, yet the school still achieves top ratings/test scores. GREAT school!

I went to Northwood Hills Elementary as a child and now I am in college. I still remeber all the teachers and everyone that impacted my life while I was there! This is one school that I will never forget. Now that I look back Im very glad that I was able to attend school here.

This school enjoys a dedicated highly educated parent group that volunteers many hours to supplement what the faculty and staff give. The faculty and staff are unbelievably dedicated and creative. I have sat through class periods and observed children having so much fun that they didn't even realize that they were learning Math. I listened to a teacher enrich the lesson on government by telling about her own experiences at the White House. I've seen how caring (but firm) the teachers and principal can be when a student is less than diligent about getting her work done. Teachers and specialists really work to help a student progress with reading skills, whatever the beginning level. They work to provide extra challenge and stimulation for gifted students. All students go to science and computer labs, art, music, and more. After school, students may choose band, DI, sports, scouts, Beta Club or other activities.

We love our neighborhood school! The community, staff, and parents work together to make this the best school possible. We have inherited a great legacy of families and staff throughout the years who have established a strong PTA with a 40-member board, good facilities, and programs that enhance the curriculum. I am constantly amazed at how the staff can challenge kids that need to be pushed and at the same time give special attention to kids that need extra help. I also like that my kids are not in a 'glass bubble.' The demographics are representative of the real world and frankly, give my kids more opportunities for leadership. There are more clubs and activities than my kids have time for and we're adding even more this year. Teachers love this school because we take care of them and work with and appreciate them. Come see what all the excitement's about!

Great neighborhood school with alot of parental and community involvement. I have been very impressed by the teacher's/school's ability to accelerate and challenge children with advanced academic skills while also teaching a large population of children who don't speak English as their primary language - and keeping them all on track to grade expectations at minimum. There is a very active band and choir program, a computer lab for all grade levels and computer club. My favorite feature is the hands on math and science lab where kids get to learn by doing without concern about making mistakes (and parents can volunteer to join in the fun.) The school provides a welcome environment and creates a culture respect for all individuals (student, teachers, community) and the school by setting school wide expectations for how to treat others and openly discussing and reinforcing them.
