I encourage any new families to the neighborhood to get more information about Prestonwood Elementary by joining our Future Panther Facebook page. There are lots of playgroups and sports teams that our Pre Kinder kids can participate in. This way the kids (and parents) get to know each other before Kindergarten. If you have a school aged child please reach out to the Prestonwood PTA for more information. We have a wonderful small school and we encourage all families to get involved and get to know each other, that is what makes us such a great little community.

I'm sorry that the previous parent thinks that we are too Pinterest-y and that our teachers don't know how to teach. I haven't seen the same thing they have. My child has ALWAYS been pushed to their full potential. The staff and parents works tirelessly to provide a great enviroment for our kiddos. I would suspect that this parent doesn't truly spend time in the school and is on the outside looking in. The interaction between the Hispanic and white families is growing and we have some great Hispanic parents that volunteer. We are a title one school and we do the very best we can to give the kids every opportunity we can. This year there were countless amazing things that our children had the opportunity to learn, whether is was through classroom experiences, author visits, filed trips, in school programs, or evening activities. I'm sorry you didn't find what you were looking for, maybe private school is where you belong.

I also have to strongly disagree with the parent who previously vented his or her frustration. PWE is an excellent school that we feel very privileged to attend. My son is not Hispanic but has many Hispanic friends, and I absolutely love the diversity of our school. In addition to the excellent education my son is receiving, I also appreciate the accessibility of the principal and the teachers. If I have a concern, they are quick to address them. In addition, my son has always begun learning new concepts from day one of each year. And yes, we have a wonderfully active PTA run by parents who enjoy giving their time and efforts to improving the lives of faculty and students. I feel this only enhances the school experience, rather than masks some deficiencies.

Prestonwood Elementary is a wonderful school with highly dedicated teachers, principal, and staff. It is located in one of the best school districts in Texas. We looked high and low for a diverse public school with great academics and a strong sense of community and so moved here for this one in particular. We have not been disappointed in the least and are continuously commending ourselves on a great decision. We wanted our kids to have a public school that would exceed their needs academically while giving them a chance to befriend and learn from a diverse set of people, something that we felt they would have a slim chance of doing in most private schools. My child has a large array of friends and the classmates are extremely supportive of one another while continuously demonstrating a high degree of camaraderie that is rare to find these days. The parents are intelligent, loving and committed. The school continuously exceeds in meeting the needs of all. The children will be highly prepared for the future, without a doubt.

Parents move into the area specifically because of PWE, and for teachers it is a destination school. If a parent prefers private school, as someone did recently, that is their choice but the criticisms they lobbed on the way out were unfair and ill-informed. There is an active and strong PTA that provides lots of time and money, and everyone is welcome to participate as much or as little as they want. When our son wasn't challenged enough, we spoke to his teacher and he got harder work. He has math above grade level, has always been challenged to push himself in reading and writing, and most importantly has always had teachers who care about his learning and that of all the students. The principal, teachers and staff are extremely accessible and because of the relatively small size of PWE, it has a sense of community and everyone there knows every single child in the school. If you want a public school for your child in this area, you cannot do better than PWE. For that unhappy parent who trashed PWE, don't let the door hit you in the rear on the way out. You have just freed up a space or more for a family who will be grateful to have their child at PWE, so thank you.

PWE has caring teachers that want to be successful. I suspect they are never really taught how. There are many parents that really want to support the school- if only in the obnoxious over-involved sort of way with over the top holiday parties and "Pinterest crafting their class to death"- all in the name of saying the school has great parent support... and so it must be a wonderful place. Wink Wink. It's a diverse school but the Hispanic and White parents don't mingle at all, thus few of the kids do. In the way a school should matter the most- the quality of education, they fall short. The curriculum moves at a maddeningly slow pace. Kindergarten is the same as any standard preschool. The first half of each year repeats the last year. There is no ability to meet kids at their own level of learning- instead, everyone is herded together at the same level. There is an overemphasis on just meeting the metric or getting the right score on the standardized tests, rather than teaching the kids how to love learning. My kids are bored. But they love the over the top cupcake parties. Alas, the eduction comes first- we are sucking up the cost and moving on to private school.

Prestonwood is a great school; both my kids are so happy there, and learning a ton. There is definitely an emphasis on math and reading/writing, but the music curriculum is also very good. The mix of kids is wonderful, and there is a warm, friendly atmosphere.

Wonderful school with many educational and fun activities going on throughout the year. Our daughter went to a private pre-school before enrolling in Prestonwood Kindergarten and her comment after the first week was "this is the best school ever!" All the teachers knew her by name in a matter of days and we like the smaller school size which makes it more personal. Academically, she advanced beyond what she learned in preschool very quickly.

This is a great school with a very active PTA. It's small, so all the parents, teachers and kids know each other. Much better compared to some of the "mega" schools with large enrollment numbers.

This is an amazing school with a diverse student population. It has had some growing pains in the past two years, with more classes and new teachers, but the end result is an even better school. I have one child in Kinder and one in 3rd grade, and they are both very happy there.

Simply put: Prestonwood is everything you could want in an elementary school. Everyone knows each other and they are friendly. The teachers are as excited as the students to be at school. My children came from a private pre-school and we have thought to continue that but decided to give PWE a chance. We couldn't be happier! We also happen to have experience with 2 other Elementary schools in RISD and they simply do not compare.

Prestonwood is a great school!! Our son was in a private preschool and we didn't know if we wanted to switch to public school. But we met other parents with kids that went to prestonwood and decided to try it and we are so HAPPY with the decision! We love the principal, teachers and parent involvement! Great small school with lots of great kids!

Love Prestonwood! My kids attended K-6th and are now in junior high. Prestonwood did an excellent job preparing them for Pre-AP courses and providing them an opportunity to become friends with kids from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. We are very grateful for the academic and social foundations they received at PWE.

PWE has been such a great place for our daughter. She has had the chance to meet all of her classmates and kids in other grades since the school is so small and homey. The teachers are all so dedicated and truly take the time to challenge kids where they need it. The vibe at the school is very casual, warm and friendly. The school is a great example of the real world and a wonderful way for my daughter to learn about different cultures while still getting a strong academic foundation.

PWE has an amazing group of teachers and staff. My son attended PWE from K thru 6 and we were very pleased with the enrichment programs and plays that the school offers. It is a smaller, neighborhood school with a great group of volunteer parents. My son was absolutely prepared for junior high this year and was able to excel in the Pre-Ap courses. I highly recommend Prestonwood.

I have two children at PWE - a second grader and a fourth grader. Overall, we love PWE and can't say enough great things about it. The new principal Pam Aitkin is absolutely a visionary and we have seen huge changes in the school since she came 18 months ago. She has singlehandedly enhanced the curriculum with a programs called "GEMS." My kids love the hands on, active approach to leanring and I know the techers are thrilled with how engaged and motivated the kids are when it's "GEMS" time during the week. Pam has also created an environment where the teachers are encouraged to add to the daily activites. PWE is an environment where every child knows they are cared for and loved. Hugs run rampet at PWE! We love the special teachers, the small community/family atmosphere and the care in which our children's education is fostered and nurtured every day. We couldn't be happier and I know my kids are getting the best education.

PWE is little neighborhood gem - tucked away in a nice neighborhood with a great playground. Teachers and staff care about and work with those at the top as well as those with challenges. PWE is an exemplary school and deservedly so. There are so many opportunities for kids to shine and so many ways for parents to be involved. My kids are now in high school and got a great start at PWE.

This school's performance could NEVER be compared to it's square footage! We've been at PWE for two years now. I had a six grader that graduated and a fourth grader, who is currently attending. I love this school because the teachers and staff love what they do...better yet, who they do it for! Our kids have gained much more than a fantastic education. Furthermore, I've gained a true appreciation of what a PTA can accomplish. This school is amazing. The moments have been PRICELESS! (KP)

Congratulations PWE on your predicted exemplary status! You are a fabulous school with caring teachers and an involved community . We love how all cultures and races are embraced--a lesson that some in our society still need to learn! Thank you for helping my children to thrive academically and socially. My kids are learning how to work and play with others that may not have the same skin color or natively speak the same language. Research has shown that kids in this type of learning environment will do better in their school years and beyond! I am so happy that we are a part of this school! Kudos to all of you!

Although we just started attending this school, I am already impressed by the staff and the school. The surroundings are appealing and the children take pride in the school. My grandson cried yesterday because he had to miss class due to an Illness. I never saw a child so eager to attend schol. Thanks.

It's the little school than could! Dedicated Principal, devoted teachers, caring parents, wonderful kids. We have been at the school for many years and have been extremely pleased with the quality of education and the family-like environment. In addition, my children have been given opportunities to be leaders and have thrived because of it. The diversity in our school enhances my children's overall development not only as students but as a human beings. Every year we evaluate our experience with not only the school but the district's gifted talented program and every year we choose to return.

Prestonwood is a wonderful school with great teachers who are very didicated to their profession. They are always encouraging the students whetther they are high or low accademically to do their best and stress that they can do it. They care about the education of the students and go beyond the call of duty to see that all children understand and learn the concepts needed to be successful. The PTA is real active in the school along with the parents. The parents/PTA put many hours into volunteering in the school and help with many of the activities that take place in the school. Prestonwood offers music, art, and physical education as part of the curriculum and some extracurricular after school like Science Club, Library Club, Student Council, Beta Club, and others.
