My school is Bishop Lynch. I have 4 children who have graduated from BL. We have been at Bishop Lynch for the last 15 years. What a wonderful experience with was for my children. There are so many things the kids can be involved. There are get togethers for the students, new families, for the moms and there is also a dads club. The teachers are wonderful and great role models. The teachers really care about the students and their success not only in school but their future.
Bishop Lynch high school is a great community for learning and developing leadership and service.
Bishop Lynch is the best private/parochial school in Dallas. The kids are friendly and laid-back and the teachers/administrators/coaches are outstanding. Best decision we ever made to send our son to Bishop Lynch. "Worth the Drive".
As a college professor, I am very glad that my daughter decided to go to Bishop Lynch. The teachers who are there have excellent credentials and many teach or have taught in the local college systems. This school has one of the largest dual credit programs in the area and many students graduate with numerous hours of college credit. The teachers do a great job of preparing the students for college courses while making then feel welcome there and part of the community. My daughter is very happy to be there and enjoys the friendly atmosphere. The counselors and deans are always around at school events to make sure that things run smoothly. I also feel as though she is in a safe environment, which is reassuring during these times.
this school focuses way too much on sports. yes it is Texas, as one reviewer said, but this is SUPPOSED to be a college prep school, not a sport prep or anything like that. so just because it's Texas doesn't give the school the excuse to focus on sports and athletes. college involves so many different facets of our lives that don't involve sports, but actual real world experiences. as a former student I don't appreciate the drugs that are very accessible and the stupid and idiotic cliques that form. if you don't have money, it's made sure that you understand you aren't worth anything and you don't belong. transferring to Bishop Dunne (a Catholic college prep high school also in Dallas) for my junior and senior year is the best decision I could have made. bishop Dunne truly gives you the real world experiences you need for college such as their diversity, extracurriculars, and the opportunity to actually participate in them-- lynch is very particular about who gets priority based on whose parents donate the most. the drugs and superficial experience is one I wish I never had and I wish I would have attended Bishop Dunne all four years of high school.
Overall this school is good, however most of the teachers are coaches that are more concerned with coaching than teaching. This school does have a lot of cliques, but if a student is outgoing and not shy they will make some friends. The dance team has a lot of cliques as well. There is a lot of gossip, fakeness, favoritism. The older girls can turn the coaches against you and they are really mean to underclassmen unless you kiss-up to them. The other teachers care about their students and want them to succeed.
This is my freshman year at BL, and I already feel welcomed by the staff and students. I was the only girl from school to go to BL, and I have already made so many friends in the last couple of weeks. BL is a very well-rounded school. It has challenging academics, great competitive sports teams, and an amazing Arts program. On the first day I was so nervous for lunch and who I was going to sit by. Some people at a table made my day by asking me to come and sit with them. BL is such a welcoming and I am so excited to get this amazing opportunity to spend my high school experience at BL.
Bishop Lynch is an excellent school that have teachers who challenge the students. Freshman year for my daughter was an enlightening experience and the teachers and staff guided me through all the things I had to learn as a parent,.
I know that some people who have commented here said that BL revolves mostly around sports (particularly football), but you would have to realize we're in Texas where sports are a main priority and, well, it's high school. As for me, I am involved in the fine arts program and have found it to be a very rewarding experience, and the best part is we integrate people who are involved in a variety of activities around BL, but we never talk about sports unless it's about the Cowboys. I have found all of my classes to be challenging, and once you get into one honors class, it's easy to get into the other ones. From, charity and hip hop to anime and creative writing, there's something for everyone to either find their niche or explore possibilities for the future. I'm thoroughly pleased with my BL experience thus far.
Bishop Lynch is a top notch Catholic prep school. They offer a wide range of academic and elective courses that keep the students challenged. It is nice to have a Catholic college prep school that welcomes students of all abilities. It is warm and welcoming, not elitist. My daughter graduated with 40 hours of dual enrolled credit which allowed her to start college at the second year level and launch right into her major area of study. It is such a well rounded environment of academics, sports, art, and clubs.
Bishop Lynch is a fabulous private school. Our daughter excelled in her classes. Her wonderful teachers were supportive, understanding, and very kind. The faculty was amazing. Our concerns and misconceptions were always greeted with accurate information with follow-ups to boot. We love this private school.
Bishop lynch is truely one of the premier High Schools in the D/FW Metroplex and all of Texas. I have graduated one and have one currently enrolled (and one to come). We all want our kids to excel. BL is outstanding at teaching academics, but more importantly BL teaches our kids how to be leaders and believe in themselves. BL is the best decision I ever made for the development of my children!
BL helped prepare me for college and many other things. Although most teachers were focused on education you will find that some teachers can be focused more on discipline and sports. BL definitely centers around athletics but even though there is not much recognition for other extracurricular activities, there are many ways for students to get involved and spend there time in high school the way they want to.
Excellent college prep school. BL offers dual enrollment courses which allows students to graduate with college credits. Much better than the usual AP courses other schools offer. Our daughter will graduate this year and enter a top notch college next year as a sophomore due to all the college credits she has earned. Wonderful experience you can not get at the 'other' Catholic high school.
i received an excellent education at bishop lynch. i would recommend the school for the latin courses alone. the language program and the study regimen for outside assignment were great for preparing me for college. i went on to get master of science and a master of arts after attending bishop lynch. the scholastics were so strong, I never cracked a book in my first two years of college.
BL is an awesome school! Lynch has excellent academics and extra curricular activities. The staff really cares about the students.
Well with children and acedimically inclined with parents. Alot of involvment with others.
Bishopy lynch, although is smart in tapps, not as smart as other private high schools. the school can be tough, but only if you take the right courses. Good at basketball. kids are wild and smoke a lot of weed so, be observant.
as a student at Bishop Lynchi do believe that i have a pretty accurate view of our school. at the moment im a freshman (class of 2007)and from my observations of this year,it seems to me that the teachers dont really pay much attention to their students...there are teachers who just teach for the money, teachers who teach for the recognition and then there's one teacher that just LOVES giving uniform citations. He spends more time scouting the halls trying to find whats wrong with you and your uniform(by now i think all blhs students know what teacher im talking about)than actually teaching. Upon visiting BL, you'll find that it is a very nicely put together high school, but once youre here you soon realize that the school revolves around the cheerleaders, football, and basketball players. These athletes shouldnt take offense to what ive said because i was a cheerleader this year...
Ok, as a student at Bishop Lynch, I can honestly confirm that Bishop Lynch is a school focused on sports (mostly football) and discipline! one time at an assembly, when we were supposed to be congratulating all of the athletics, 3/4 of the assembly was concentrated on football. it actually made us late for lunch and the first lunch only got about 10 minutes to eat and the others got the normal 30. the teachers are so much easier on the football players, discipline wise and education wise. it is almost like they dont care what they are doing. it should be a school concentrated on education not sports. can i get a little equality here?!
