Notre Dame School

My son has attended Notre Dame for 8 years. He is mentally handicapped and has mild cerebral palsy. This school has the best teachers and the best environment for special needs kids in Dallas. The principal has been at Notre Dame for many years and she has excellent leadership skills. I have heard from many parents that when their special needs child was in public schools, they were inhibited - then they came to Notre Dame, and they "blossomed". These kids develop close friendships with peers and they learn daily living skills and participate in Special Olympics! It's wonderful!

My youngest sister, 13, attends and is in the Intermediate grade. The school consists of 2 Primary classes, Intermediate classes (4 groups), Bridges, and Vocational classes. The school, for students with special needs, ranges from ages 6-21. Each classroom has 1 teacher and 1 aide. At first my parents were less than eager to place my sister in this school, (she had been in a public school up until the age of 11) worried that she may pick up 'bad habits' but she is learning what she never could if she had moved on to junior high in the public schools. Not only is she thriving academically, but Notre Dame has many sports and clubs, as well as dances! Sports include cheerleading, bowling, basketball, and soccer.
