I attended DHS from fall 03' to spring 07'. I have to say, DHS is the stereotypical, small town, bible belt, high school. Where the Friday night football game overshadows anything else going on that week. With policies like 'No homework on Thursdays because the boys have practice' what's not to love? While the school did stress academics, they seemed to be more concerned with overall test scores rather than individual results. As long as the majority did well the others were left to fall by the wayside. Don't get me wrong. There are some outstanding teachers at DHS. But their greatest lessons taught were not out of text books. And to those few teachers I am truly grateful. However, for those few there are a dozen others who do it for the paycheck. And it's sad but true.

both of my children graduated from DHS. One in 2003 and one in 2006. The faculty and staff showed great concern for the education of my children and pushed them to excel. Support and enthusiasm excelled not only on the field, but in the classroom. I am proud that my children had the opportunity to attend a school that prepared them for their future. Great job educators!

I attended DHS from '98 to the spring of '02, it became aware to me immediatly that education was not the top priority. Staff was undereducated with little to offer a young eager, mind. The absence of compassion and understanding was stifling. I do have to commend them on such a valiant effort to portray a flawless outward appearance. Though this did seem to put a damper on the education aspect! I wish terribly that those few teachers that are great had more influence on things. Hopefully in the near future the staff will be evaluated properly so that the school isnt a complete disgrace.

I went to DeKALB High School between 1992-1996. I have went to DeKALB ISD all my life and it was a great school system. I just wish my daughter had a chance to go there. Now I am in the United States Marine Corps and I am stationed in Iwakuni, Japan. the teachers there made me put out my all (well I thought all I had ) now I know it wasn't all I had. So I just want to thank all the teachers I had (esp MR Bowers he introduced the Military to me ) and I give them props and keep turning out good people.
