If you plan on attending this school, make sure to take pre-ap classes. The teachers are much more motivated than the regular teachers and the students are bearable. The teachers at this school will do anything to assist their students. There are many sports and clubs/extracurricular activities that you can take at this school. I have to say that the being a freshman here was very enjoyable.
I currently attend this school. At first glance, I was incredulous, but my insight has changed. The teachers here are amazing and the curriculum is thorough. There are still some students who tend to disrupt the classroom, but I am actually excited to go to school since attending the Desoto Freshman Campus. Each day is a surprise (in a good way) and I feel like both my education and ethics have changed since starting this year.
As a parent coming from Arlington ISD I must say I am utterly dissapointed with the very low quality of education this school has shown. My son attends this school and has never been this unhappy in any school he has ever attended. He complains everyday how he hates the school and feels he has not learned anything. He has told me stories that are jaw dropping from gangs in the school, fights weekly, and teachers have no interest in teaching or motivating these kids to want to learn what they have to teach. What kind of teacher tells a student, " she will make sure no one passes her exams and brags about! The falculty seems to care more about the kids clothing than there edcuation! Its no wonder they have so many freshman still at the campus failing....this is a concern this community of parents should be concerned with! I will be working move my son away from this school before he ends up in trouble and I would recommentd this school to anyone who is seeking quality education for their child!
My son attends this school and we are new to the district. I must say that I am disappointed with the quality of education they are providing and how the administration handles the students that don't come to school to learn. I understand the no child left behind concept for elementary students, but at this age, if the children don't want to take their education seriously, they should send them to alternative learning centers so those that really want to learn, can and in an enviornment that is not distracting to the other students.
Desoto Freshman Campus is pathetic, the School is over Populated, the Teachers are very low motiivated, and are not driven enough to educate the students to their fullest potentials. Too many freshmans are failing at this Campus and are being repeated with no more higher learning standards set to improve. This campus is a disappointment and need severe improvement in a desparate way.
The majority of the teachers and definately the asst. principal are not really that concern with growth and advancement of the students. Only thing noticable about this school is reprimand, not achievement.
