Perrin Learning Center is an excellent school that promotes education for "At Risk" students. It is a school of choice that offers a non traditional self paced curriculum for students of Sherman ISD. Perrin Leaning Center has a Pregnancy Education and Parenting program (PEP) for teen parents, The school also offers a dual credit CTE program through Grayson County College and allows students to attend afternoon classes at the college. Perrin Learning Center is promoting post high school readiness and is growing in popularity for the "At Risk" students who need another way to get it done.

PLC is the gem of our district. It's a blessing to work in an environment where students and their success in life is the primary focus always. This is achieved through holistic education provided by all. The students are embraced with compassion, and structure that helps them mature into adulthood, and for some parenthood. PLC changes/ and shapes futures!

Perrin Learning Center is an outstanding school for the At Risk Student ! It is a school where success is possible for ALL students because they are taught, encouraged and treated as individuals. Students have academic success and personal growth to help them with life after high school. This school offers self-paced academic classes, a parenting program and dual credit college classes. Students and teachers alike really believe in Perrin Learning Center and see students succeed that cannot and will not graduate at the traditional high school.

I believe that Douglass Learning Center has great potential to service low-income families but the quality of teachers needs to be increased. You don't want to feel that just because you don't have alot of money that your child is not entitled to good academic programs. There is also the misconception that low income families do not focus on their child's education which is truly false. There is not enough parent involvement outside of wanting to know all of your income information to provide to the government and home visits. That is the only interaction I have seen. It is not encouraged by the school to get more involved and that can truly be devasting to a child's education. I believe with the right leadership this school has great potential.
