I am currently hvin problems with the school callin cps 4 every lil minor issue tht can b solved thru communication with myself. Upon investigation & home visits, cps has concluded their is no need 2 pursue farther actions & dismisses the accusations, but im now gettin weekly calls about reports made frm the school. They r fixin 2 lose my two children 2 home school. I hve talked 2 a few ppl frm our community & it seems 2 b a common on goin, stressful event concerning Douglass School.

I love this school district. I graduated from Douglass ISD in 2003, and now 3 of my children attend Douglass. I wouldn't allow my children to attend any other school. There is great parent/ teacher communication. They teach leadership and make sure that every childs needs are met to the best of their capabilities. The education that my children recieve from this school is absolutely amazing. I love this school and the community!!!

This is an excellent school district. All my children graduated from Douglass. Jr. & Sr. years students may take college courses on campus and upon high school graduation also have 24 college hours. This is great! Disipline is not a problem. Zero tolerance. The faculty and staff treats all students like family. The board is excellent. You could not ask for a better school district.

3 cheers for Douglass! My children went through their system and they are better students and citizens for the experience. The teachers are exceptional and are dedicated. Students that graduate from Douglass ISD are better prepared for college...just ask any graduate. The teachers can tell you of untold graduates that have revisited their alma mater just to tell them of how well they were prepared for college. Discipline issues are nil compared to other area schools. I know, I work for other schools in the area. I love their 'zero' tolerance for discipline issues. If children are distracted because of 'behaviorally' challenged children, the learning process is being interrupted. Great support from the teachers, faculty, staff, administration and the school board!

This school has been a huge disappointment for me and my child. My child attened this school from Kindergarden through the 4th grade. There are no guidlines that children have to follow on behavior. You also may want to check and see how many students this school has lost to Homeschooling, you'd by surprised by the numbers.

This is a good school, with great staff, and kids attending with supportive, involved parents.

Douglass is an excellent country school. If small class size and individual attention are what you are looking for, you've come to the right place. Acedemic excellence, caring faculty, and terrific school spirit are all evident here at every grade level. Administration is very 'hands on' - everybody knows everybody, and every child is somebody at Douglass. They far surpass 'No Child Left Behind' with an attitude that 'Every Child Can Succeed'. Somewhat lacking in bells & whistles of a larger school (fine arts, football, etc.), they more than make up for it with strong fundamental academic program, G/T & UIL enrichment opportunities, solid athletics (basketball, baseball, softball, track, cross-country), and dual-credit college classes for high school. I highly recommend this school!

Profile Completeness

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.
