From an academic standpoint, the teaching is great. There is a tremendous amount of homework, which takes away from family and fun time for the children. The food that is served in the cafeteria is horendous. Nothing but fried foods and carbs. You simply cannot feed a child Chicken Nuggets, tater tots, corn and Teddy Grahams AND allow them to have their choice of white, chocolate, or strawberry milk, and then expect them to be able to focus after such a carb/sugar loaded meal. One month last year, only three times were vegetables served at lunch, and twice it was corn. Corn is pure sugar. Something should be done about the nutrition that is being provided.
I have 2 grandchildren left in Siebert Elementary. All the teachers are good and care about the kids. The music teacher, Mrs. McGowen is wonderful and puts on wonderful programs throughout the year. There is baseball, basketball and football for sports. Our librarian, Mrs. Woods keeps the library open for a few days a week for over a month for kids to come and check out books. Parent involvement in this school is over whelming. Parents are always around and involved in many things. We are pretty proud of our school. It is now a Blue Ribbon School, a well earned reward.
This is a fantastic elementary school. Their teachers are great, and their administrators are the best!
This school has one of the best teaching staffs I have ever been around. They are dedicated to your childs learning and success.
Some excellent teachers, that seem to really care. I agree that the principle does come over as rude, arrogant, and rather self important. But look past this to the teacher quality and over all positive attitude in Eastland towards education.
I moved my children out of Siebert last year, both good students. The teachers seemed very good. The administration of the elementary school could be a poster child for what is wrong with public education. Outside of a couple of post which appear here that seem to come from insiders I have never heard anyone in the community say a good word about the elementary office, but lots of horror stories. My advice if you are moving to Eastland, for your childrens sake wait till they are in Jr High. Beware, Investigate, ask around, and you will get the picture!
I don't know alot about our middle school & high school, but Siebert is wonderful. The teachers are there because they truly care about our children. I have substituted and volunteered there and seen first hand the patience & love of our teachers & staff. Ms. Jordan is doing a great job- Keep it up!
I just can't say enough good things about EISD. I am an involved parent as well as a substitute teacher in this school system and I am very pleased with the staff and the curriculum. I have seen first hand many times the caring and concern of the staff for students. I believe the teachers, aides, staff, and principal all genuinely care about the educational and emotional needs of the students. I don't believe there is anyone there who would not be willing to help a child in any way possible. In my opinion, Eastland truly is a great school!
I am the mother of three children all of which have attended Siebert Elementary with one of them still in the school. I have never had anything but good experiences with all of the staff at Siebert. I have a child with learning disabilities due to medical problems, the teachers are so good that none of the other children even realize she has a problem. If you are considering moving to Eastland I hope you will come check out the campus and see what a great place it really is. I believe that a great campus has to have a great leader and I think that is what you will find at Siebert Elementary.
Eastland over all has good schools, the elementary is by far their weakest link. a change of leadership at the Principal level would go a long way to fix the long standing problems at this campus. In Eastland the Jr and Sr High are excellent, the elementry is just not close to being up to speed, sad really.
