I really enjoy having my children at Tippin. They are very informative and military friendly. So far we have been pleased with all of the teacher we have dealt with. I cant imagine my children going to any other elem school in El Paso. If you are moving to El Paso a big mistake would be not having your children attend this school.
I don't know about others, but I am not very happy with this school. My child's teacher is lazy, disorganized and unwilling to work with me to help my child do better at school and I am very involved in my children's education. I requested to change classroom but declined by the principle, so therefore, I am not very happy with this school and might have to hold on til the end of the school year!
My son has attended Tippin for four years and we are sad to be moving next year. He is in the Gifted and Talented Program and has excelled in the challenging curriculum. I would recommend anyone moving to El Paso look into the schools where they plan to live. It's worth paying a little more in housing to get a quality school that is safe and where your children will be challenged academically. I would recommend Tippin to any family in the El Paso area.
I have been very pleased with this school. Coming to El Paso, I was worried about getting my kids into a good school. This was our first year here and I have been happy with the education they received at Tippen. The teachers are involved and the school works very hard to keep the focus on learning. The orchestra program is excellent, as is the gifted 4th and 5th grade program. Also, the PTA is awesome here. This is not a Title 1 school and gets a quarter of the funding of the rest of El Paso schools. But you wouldn't know it--these ladies work hard (be prepared for a lot of fundraising though). Parental involvement is high and you're always seeing room parents and helpers around. We are a military family, and I am confident that when we move on to another state my kids won't be behind as I have heard about Texas schools.
My children have been to excellent parochial schools in Georgia, a disastrous charter school in El Paso after we moved here, and now Tippin, and Tippin is by far the best. The quality of the teachers, the very professional administration, the wonderful coaching staff, and the clean, happy and safe environment is unsurpassed. I will not even consider moving again while my children are in elementary, just because I love this school
Tippin is an excellent school. The teachers are very dedicated and know how to teach all children. My children have been in several elementary schools in Houston and Dallas, and Tippin is definitely the best. The superintendent Lorenzo Garcia is making a great difference!
Tippin is a wonderful school! I feel that administration is very support of staff and creates a very positive environment! I think the principal has been wonderful at offering support to parents and students. The PTA is very active and do many wonderful activities. Teh school isovercrowded but they have dealt with that well also! Keep up the good work
At the surface the school seems organized, clean and most of the teachers are qualified and helpful. If you dig a little deeper though you get the sense that all is not quite right. The teachers seem afraid of administration and when a problem at school arises, administration is not quick to respond. Their response time and effectiveness in handling parent concerns is extremely poor, and very unprofessional. I will never ask the principal for assistance in handling a concern again, I will go straight to the EPISD Superintendent.
All my 3 children go to Tippin and I have nothing but good experience there. The principal, the teachers and the staffs are all WONDERFUL! The PTA is amazing too. I've never been to a school where the parents are so involved with the school.
My son who is in 1st Grade has settled very well in his class. He enjoyed going to school and the lessons. Many parents are involved in PTA which is very active. I do feel that there is a slack in discipline among the kids and the Vice Principal is always 'just standng there'. There are some parents who do not follow the school rules and are bad examples to their children. Many cars are always speeding in the school zone and parked haphazardly. The school is seriously overcrowded and may bring down the school standard. The school needs to have more ECAs.
This is the third year that Tippin has been open and my son has been there all three years. There are actually over 800 students. It does seem that the school is understaffed for the number of students. The vast majority of teachers are competent and caring. The office staff is outstanding and supportive. The school is clean and seems well maintained. The GT program for all grades and the teachers for the program is wonderful. The PTA is very active and good for the school. Safety concerns and discipline are handled quickly and I'm impressed with the support by staff and parents to assist in parking and traffic issues. Some of the parents are snobby and beileve that they don't need to follow the rules and guidance from the school. They are the worst aspect of the school.
This is my son's first year at Tippin as a 5th grader. Being military we are used to moving a lot and have seen many schools. When we enrolled our son in this school we were surprised to see how crowded this school was. Our son has 32 kids in his class, that is extremely unacceptable! This school is tremendously over crowded, and with all the new housing development going up, I am concerned with the value of education the children will receive. We also noticed many parents with Mexico Tags, that is very disturbing. Is this legal? Many students fall behind when there are too many in the class, causing individual student progress to be interrupted. Teachers are great and the staff is wonderful, and we have had great help from everyone. I'm curious to see how the El Paso Independent School district is going to fix the overcrowding.
we moved from another big city in texas, and noticed that the academic level of the class is not as good. i have not been very happy with the class teacher. she is very disorganized, which effects her performance in class.
This is a school in its 2nd year and already OVERCROWDED! EPISD is the WORST school district I have ever been involved with and am VERY disappointed with administration. The principal works for EPISD and treats the school as a business; not as a 'school' for the students. The Assistant Principal lacks the ability to discipline children as 'bullying' is wide-spread thoughout the campus.
We had a very bad experience last year (2005) and I still believe it was based on race and teacher's laziness. This year our child got an excellent teacher, and what a difference a good teacher makes. Tippin is a great school with very caring teachers. Of course there is always going to be a bad apple in the bunch. I do wish there were more extracurricular activities, maybe dance, sports, etc.... Administrators and counselor are great and easy to approach.
I believe Tippin is a great new school. The teachers are dedicated and caring. My son attends this school. I believe that there is not a lot of money put toward this school because it is in the wealthier part of town. Not much state or private funding goes toward it. The PTA is very active and does a lot for this school. The administration is also good. I wish there were art, music, and computer teachers available for the students.
Fabulous teachers and administrators. It is a new school but most of the teachers came from Kohlberg which was already a great school with a great team of teachers. Tippin seems to be the hot school right now and the neigborhood growth rate is worrisome because there is no other elementary school in the works right now. The PTA is extremely active and organize most of the extracurricular activities. Parents are always encouraged to participate and most do.
Although Tippin is the newest school to the EPISD, it is one of the best schools in El Paso already. The parent involvement is incredible! In less than one year, the PTA raised enough money to install a new playground for the older kids and make improvements to the landscape. All the teachers and staff are wonderful and helpful. I know my child is receiving the best education possible. I can honestly say, I would not want my child attending any other school except Tippin Elementary.
We have had a very bad experience with this school. The teachers were not receptive to our questions and concerns as parents and the Principal 'German' was not willling to spend any time with us as parents and abruptly instructed us that we are to resolve our issues with the teachers.
