Switched our children out El Paso Country Day School to Loretto Academy after being there for 2 years....made a world of difference. EPCDS is the most expensive school in el paso but does not offer much. Loertto Academy has turned out to be a perfect choice for us. I have a son in first grade and a daughter in pre-k. They love it. Both are doing great academically and the kids and parents of this school are much less elite snobs and with no reason to be. LOVE LORETTO. They really support child growth socially as well as academically. Wish I chose this school first. I made the mistake of putting this school as my second choice and EPCDS as my first. My children paid for my poor choice. But they are doing great now.
I love loretto and other student will too. Loretto will teach great educational skills . I highly recommend the Academy
Traditions, small class size and teachers who take an interest in challenging each student toward a standard of excellence. I am one of three sisters (and several cousins) that attended.
Love Loretto Academy!! Alumna and now a parent, my daughter is experiencing the wonderful traditions and excellent education offered by Loretto Academy.
i love everything about the school. the grounds, the students and teachers, the core values they teach, academics. the amazing job the theatre dept does with it's limited resources. the service learning projects. there is just so much. i went to school there and now my daughter goes there. i believe in the school.
I am a student who has been at Loretto my whole life and I can honestly say that the school is a waste of money. It used to be a good school, but it seems that in recent years it has become extremely unsatisfying. Loretto parents are very involved... So much so that many of the (uncertified) parents are now 'teaching' a variety of classes and attempting to enforce their own values upon the students. Although the school's administration will probably disagree, individuality is not encouraged. (I'm not a social person. I was recently threatened by the principal to be refused from the school unless I change my social habits and get some friends... I will be switching schools next year.) If you don't speak a reasonable amount of Spanish, this school is not for you. I can not reccommend this school and I advise you to seek education elsewhere.
I am currently attending Loretto and I have always found it to be a very pleasing, friendly environment for a school. I have been attending Loretto since pre-k and I have never had any difficulties. My sister who is in pre-k is also a student at the school and she seems to enjoy this school as well. If you are a parent searching for a good school that will rovide your child with a good eduaction, then Loretto Academy is a school that I highly recommend.
My daughter attended Loretto from PreK through 5th grade and it was the best decision I ever made. She excels on national exams, ranking in the 95 to 99 percentile. She has a solid foundation of faith and treats everyone with respect (as do all the Loretto students). I love the small class size and the fact that all the students know each other on a first name basis. My son is also attending and will continue there until middle school. He, too, is demonstrating academic excellence. Well worth the money in my book!
Teachers are well prepared and attentive to student strenghts ans challenges. My daughter is growing into a fine adult with good decision making. Academically my daughter is prepared for any school she selects
I am currently a high school student at Loretto Academy and I love it here. The studying environment is amazing at Loretto and the teachers do strive you to do great things. There are so many traditions at Loretto that makes it stand out from other schools. As students we attend mass every month, abide to strict rules to the upmost respect and challenge ourselves. I am currently a junior and about to graduate from this school. If you have a daughter and plan to send her here, I would highly recommend it.
Loretto is a great school. The teachers are nurturing, the curriuclum challenging and administration responds well to any concern that may arise. My child has thrived at Loretto.
Honestly, I did not find Loretto Academy to be worth the money I spent. My child went to the high school and I found that the education is not up to par with some of the surrounding public schools. Loretto may have had a 'tradition of Excellence' in the past but today for some reason that is not the case. I was disappointed with the fine arts area of Loretto. Many of the teachers at Loretto seem to have grown tired of teaching and seem to only be there to receive an income. I also found that because private schools are allowed to be more strict, some of the teachers took advantage of that and were emotionally abusive to the students. They seem to be so obsessed with rules that the students individuality is nonexistent and discouraged rather than embraced. I was not satisfied with Loretto Academy.
I had a daughter at loretto through 2nd grade, she loved the nurturing environment and they had a lot of field trips. I had to move her to another school because of the high costs of the tuition and I realize then that the academic level of this school had some deficiencies, she was far behind academically compared to her new classmates and she had to work really hard to be at the level. The extra-academic progams are fine, the building is nice and they even have a pool. I think the parents are too much involved not only with their children education but also with the way the school is ruled.
My children love this school as do! We came from a larger school district in El Paso, TX and it was a breathe of fresh air. The staff is very attentive in regards to the children's safety. The teachers seem relaxed and happy. I have never had a problem contacting any of their teachers all have responded and communicated within a day. I love this school and unfortunately it will be their last year in elementary school. I highly recommend this school, it is clean, new and very organized all with a small town school appeal.
I have two children in the elementary school and I must admit that there are great discrepancies between teachers. In one class, my child is challenged and all the children are expected to rise to the challenge, while my other child is in a class where the progress is halted until every child understands a concept. I love the concern the teachers have for their students, the special projects are insightful and the music program is wonderful. Private school is our only option because of where we live, however, if we were slated for a better school district, I would have my children in a public school.
The school provides a great education for the local environment, but the level of the teachers is variable. Accordingly, the school is far from being competitive on a regional or national basis. Overall, the high school is not interested in the parents' involvement and is extremely slow to to react to suggestions. Some of the disciplinary measures imtroduced at the school are contributing to a overall disillusion among students. This makes local public high school even more appealing. In conclusion, the school has lost ots edge and the negatives are slowly becoming too much to bear. With IB programs available at schools such as Coronado, and based on education solely, it would be hard to recommend Loretto to anyone. Factor a great number of the less than responsive teachers and administration and picking this school is no longer a good choice for high school for anyone.
