im currently in this school and is by farthest the best school you could ever go to. i was in the soccer team and we won district champions. the teachers are really nice especially Ms. Porcher Reading, and Ms. Rasmussen Algebra. The students are so nice even though their are some problems just like in any other school.
I give 5 stars to Mr. Mcalpine. He is a great principal, but not even his good intentions are to stop the bullying and disrespect SOME of the kids have toward the adults and classmates. We as parents should be more involved, Im a working parent and have 3 kids and still carve time to meet administration and teachers. I am having to change my dd to another school cuz she is being bullied and scared of a girl.
This school has a great deal of problems that have not been corrected over the past few years. The new principal is doing his best to pull them out of the dredges & get things corrected not only on building issues (plumbing, swamp coolers, smells) but with the students too. I wish him success for the sake of our kids.
The school is great, the administrators do all they can, try there hardest, work with you and are friendly. The teacher are amoung the best in the city/state. One teacher, Mrs. Wlker was the Texas state teacher of the year, and a canidate for national teacher of the year, i think she came in the top 3 or something? There's another teacher, Mr. Tilghman. By far the best teacher I have ever had. My first semester I failed, failed again, raised it, and worked so hard I had a 94. This man taught me how to conduct myself in the class room, how to treat the ladies, and how keep organized. The best teacher your gonna find. I hated him when I had him, loved him afterwards. Morehead is a great school. Overall, it prepares you for life more than anything else your gonna find. I'm glad I came here.
Who ever say's morehead is a bad school has obveously not attended it because this school is so accepting of you and the teachers are super nice and really try to help you. They evan stay with you after class. This is by far the best place to send your kids.
I Really Enjoyed this school for three years and never had any problems this school has great teachers and wonderful students and the staff kepp this school running like it should. its a great school to send your kids.
The school is a mess, vandelism all over not a good school. I agree.
This is a wonderful school. I don't get shunned here, because I'm different like in other schools. I have lots of friends and there are a lot of different people here. When some say there are gangs here, that's not true, those people are idiots. All the kids here accept me and are really nice and bright(even if they don't show it).
If you ask me i just say for everyone to quit complaining. Its a good school, and the teachers are great. these other people are saying they dont help, probably just because they're kids just dont ask for the help.Sure yea there is many 'cholo's' or 'gnagster's' but dont worry they are just a bunch of scared kids they only feel strong in groups. but overall i think this is a good school!!
The administrators in this school need to improve the way they run this school.
Im in seventh grade at Morehead and it is a very good school academically and in other ways
I came to this school from a junior high school in Washington state where my lowest grade ever was a C. Arriving at Morehead my lowest grade became a D and eventually failing. I tried to tell the first teacher that failed me that I needed help. I received none. When I attended I was threatened to be hammered daily by other students(mostly in gym class). I can't even begin to express the humiliation I was put through by teachers, I was always an introvert but this school damaged my spirit and began the ball rolling downhill in my academics because the teachers I had truly seemed to not care, and I was to ashamed of my social standing with other students to tell my parents how much I hated going to this school. I still have nightmares. Please do not send your child here if you don't have to.
This school may not be good in grades but the teachers here are so nice they try everything to help ur kid on passing no matter what it takes and when there are students that don't want to learn they don't really care cause thats their choice but with the kids that do they forcus on them but don't forget the others. When it comes to the fights and bullies those can be avoided if your child doesn't act like a big shot or starts things they won't get involed with those things. The only reasons the kides act like this is because most have a hard time at home AND SO ON. IT CAN BE AVOIDED.This is not a bad school.I liked it.I had fun.
I have a daughter who just graduated from the 8th grade their. Its a good school with a lot of caring teachers.Their choir program is outstanding.I have another daughter in the choir. They have a lot of dances, which gives the students a lot of time to get to know eachother better.
Academics are not on the top of the list for this school...not sure of parent involvement, but I am VERY involved in my child's education. The diversity of students does not make for a nice 'blend'--meaning next to the school you have the projects which are basically a financially challenged group of kids mixed in with the upper class 'country club' kids. Not a good mix...my sons have been faced with all sorts of issues that a child of 12 to 13 should not be faced with yet! Kids are looking at porn on the internet without proper supervision from the teachers and also lewd conduct all over the campus - it is totally ridiculous! I can't wait to move out of this school district - I hate it here.
Morehead Middle School does not have a healthy learning environment for children. The major reason for this, in my opinion, is the student population itself. Many of the children that go to Morehead have serious issues and are not very flexible when it comes to dealing with 'Other' children. This aspect of the student body is complex, because the student body is made of wealthy White kids, poor to lower middle class Mexican-American kids, and a small Black/African- American student body. Tolerance levels within all these groups are limited, and it seems that administrators can only do so much, especially since such problems reflect the families of such students. Therefore, there exists a lot of bullying, fighting, and chaos at this school. I do not recommend this school to people who have ethical & moral sensibilities, and to parents who want the best for their children. These problems limit a teacher's ability to properly progress when it comes to teaching, and limits a child's ability to learn.
I was formal student this school is no good it's full of gangters and stuff I would like to say this is the worst school in el paso. the only good thing is that we get away with lots of stuff, like fighting ect...
The State OF Texas has expended thousands of dollars in buying books for all the children in Texas. The curriculum should utilize these books in presenting the material. If the curriculum is not based on an organized format, then the child can not follow, and the parent can not assist the child. Furthermore, in college, medical school, law school, and graduate school, all educational arenas are based on the books issued in each subject. USE THE BOOKS more often!
