Coming from Austin, where the school my children attended was exemplary, I was very worried... especially after reading reviews about this school. This school not only exceeds my expectations of what a great school offers, but I can't imagine sending my children back to the schools in Austin. The attention my children receive and the staff that attend to all the children's needs goes beyond the role of what a school offers to the children in their community. Mrs. Bankhead, Mrs. Irvin, office staff, school nurse, Mrs. Wallace and all the wonderful teachers are extremely professional, and from my experience they really love what they do! Their behavior during and after school hours is a shining example of what I want for my children as role models, guides and mentors. I'm proud of this school and what they are doing for our community. Thank you Neidg staff for loving my children and caring for all their educational needs. If you are worried about sending your child to this school, don't be. This school is wonderful!

Ihave had a very different experience than the last reviewer. I find the leadership team to be available and really alert. I know there is a new assistant principal but I've not had any dealings with her. The current principal seems to really be on the ball and really cares about the kids. My child feels safe and that is a comfort to me. He has also had excellent teachers who have pushed him to excel. I do feel that the PTO is lacking in motivating parent to participate and in organizing events. In spite of this, I have found ways to get involved. The teachers and the staff are so welcoming to me and my family. I wouldn't switch my child from Neidig.

This school has greatly improved since the new principal came aboard. Teachers and staff are friendly, dedicated and really do care about your child. Two of my kids attend Neidig and they love it. Their teachers have been great.

This school has only gotten worse. The pricnipal leadership is awful. Behavior issues abound and swept under the rug. It was rated a 4 two years ago and has gone down. There are a few teachers who are committed but most not. Parent involvment is almost non-existent. This school doesn't need work it needs an OVER-HAUL!

From reading many of the comments below I can tell you the school has changed. The teachers that have decided to commit themselves to Neidig are great. They have a new principal and she is working hard to keep parents involved. Every school needs work but Neidig is on its way up..

All of my children started at Neidig. I moved my children to a Charter school because I felt they weren't being challenged enough. I would have to agree with most of the comments about the staff they aren't approachable at all and most of the time unprofessional. If they don't like you they treat your kids the same too. If your to supportive and try to make change they have aproblem with that also.

I have been fairly pleased with this school, the staff and teachers. There is always room for improvement.

This is our first year at this school and have had no problems. My child s teacher is great. We have contact with the principal and vice principal on a daily basis because they are always out and about making sure that things are ok from what I have seen. This school is still growing there are changes that will need to be made from time to time but it's up to the parents to make sure that this school is meeting their families needs as far as teaching. The one thing that I have seen is there are to many parents that think it's up to the teachers raise these kids. Basic behavior problems that I have seen have been because the kids have not been taught at home how to behave. Then they become a disruption in the class to the kids that are being good and want to learn.

I feel this is a pretty good school. There are some really good teachers at this school. I honestly feel this may be the best functioning school in this district at the current time. I do feel that communication between parents and teachers/school could be better, but for the most part it is not too bad.

My children only went to this school for 2 months. We had problems with a teacher and with the principal. We moved here from another district and was surprised at how bad the schools in Elgin are. I was hoping this one would be different. But it is'nt. There is no communication between the school and the parents. The teachers and principal dont seem to want any parental involvement. I am so dissapointed in this whole school district.

I have experienced a communication problem with this school from day one, problems with the teacher as well as campus communication. As a parent we need to be informed in order to participate with and support our teachers.
