It's a terrible mess. If you want your child to be academically successful and go on to college - move way from this district. I am taking my child out very soon and moving two hours away from this place. She has been attending Elgin Elementary for nearly two years and has hardly learned a thing. My younger sister also attended this school and didn't learn how to read until she was almost 12 years old. They failed to provide her with individual tutoring as well. Also, when my sister was beat over the head with a tray in the cafeteria, they did NOTHING. My daughter received death threats on the school bus, what did they do? They confined HER to one seat on the school bus. Please, please - do not send your children here.

Bring back a male principal. The new principal bit off more than she could chew. Go back to being a teacher and take care of your health and family.

My children have been coming to this school for the last 3 years and I can personally say that the school has done so much progress. The teachers are a great bunch of professionals that care very much about their students success; whether they struggle with a subject, our teachers are there to guide them and help them along the way; always with a positive attitutde. They go beyond the call of duty. Getting involved, even as a parent volunteer, will help those children that lack the education at home and brings forth positive reinforcement. They evenually, will do better on their state tests. Parent & teacher involvement sets the bar for everyone involved. Achievement means success and our school will never give up on anyone because we care.

Still a lack of disclipline, favortism for certain teachers and students, scores improved but what about certain groups of students?
