my daughter - Opeyemi Ojo, had just migrated from New York to the state of Texas with her mother and her husband.(step-dad) based on my research of the school. its appeared it an excellence academic environment for 1st grader. I attempted to speak to her teacher to no avail.

I have two children at this school. The staff is amazing. All of the teachers and ladies in the office are so great. The take the time and do what they need for these kids to be great. Nothing but good things to say.

I have two kids at this school and I am so glad to be at this school. The PPCD teacher there is really great and communicates really great. The teachers there are really awesome, and on the first day of school spoted potential problems with my son and started to try to help my son succeed any way they could. I really wish more parents would get involved with their kids school so they could see how much effort these teachers give every day....Teachers are pretty frosty and unreceptive on first contact but after a while warm up on an individual basis. All schools have flaws but this school has made a great effort to make each child feel sucessful.

Oakwood Terrace is a great school community. I love that my kids have an opportunity to learn music at all grade levels. While other schools focus only on testing, Oakwood Terrace teachers seem to genuinely care about the success of the kids.

No matter how hard we try to please, parents, principals, district managers, etc no one is ever happy! Teachers here try to do their best with what they have. They can't do miracles or brain surgery on students. We work with what we have! You can't expect your child to pass TAKS or any other District test when you child can't even read at a 1st grade level...now let's blame the teacher also for that huh?

Academic Programs are fair not great. Do a great job of keeping the more undesirable childern under control, somewhat . They had no christmas concert or any celabration whatsoever. I dislike this school very much and I am moving so my child will be able to go to a different school.

About the tests


In 2012-2013, the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) was used to test students in reading and math in grades 3 through 8; in writing in grades 4 and 7; in science in grades 5 and 8; in social studies in grade 8; and end-of-course assessments for English I, II, and II, Algebra I and II, biology and US History. STAAR is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Texas. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.

The different student groups are identified by the Texas Education Agency; if there are a small number of students in a particular group, the state doesn't report data for that group.
