I think Meadows Elementary is a great school! The administration and staff do a wonderful job providing a high standard of education to military dependent students. Meadows is a high standard model for Military Base public schools.
Meadows Elementary is an outstanding learning institution. The learning environment is student focused, and the staff members are dedicated to helping all students reach their full potential.
Very big let down. The communication between parents, teachers and administration is lacking to say the least. The administration absolutely does not back the teachers needs in the classroom setting. Poor follow through with regards to classroom/homework assignments. Parents are completely unaware of testing from week to week...unless they ask repeatedly. I would not recommend this school to anyone unless a major overhall to the administration is in place.
My daughter attends this paticular school and I see nothing wrong with the teachers challenging the children and making them do work assignments on there own instead of holding the childs hand. From here on out it only gets harder in school so teaching them life skills at this age in life is a great thing.Anything in life is better worked for than just given to.Yes,this school is very different from our prior school but don't we want our children to be challenged threw life.It will make you a stronger adult.I have no problem with this school and if you do so the teachers are on top of things that day.
My daughter attended this school for three years and we loved it (and miss it!). The office staff is kind and helpful and the principal is joy- always with a smile on her face. The PTA is great and we loved the Cluster classes. I was a tad dissapointed in our kindergarten experience, but 1st and 2nd grade were phenomenal! Great school!
I had one son attend K, 1, and 2nd; my other son attended preK and 1st. Excellent communication between the teachers and parents. a variety of extracurricular activities were available (reading club; spiritual club among others). Classes were taught in 'cluster', meaning kids who tested high at the beginning of the year were grouped together in one class. This challenged the entire class and promoted excellent learning. The PTA was very active. The security of the school was also very high...id's were required to enter and to pick up a kid if you weren't the parent. The school environment was fairly strict...walking on the right wall, single file in the hallways with hands behind their backs; lunchroom was for eating and not loud talking; etc. Overall, I was very pleased with my experience with Meadows and my boys really enjoyed going there.
This school is a wonderful addition to our family. We had lived off for the past 5 years so when we decided to make the move back to post i had been quite worried about my son and how he would handle a new school. The staff at this school made my son adore it from day one. he has learned a lot and is quite intrigued by all the extras this school has to offer. my son met nick jonas today at school and that is just a small glimpse of one of the many things this school does to improve moral.
This is my sons first year here (3rd grade) and we love it so far. The staff is friendly and helpful - they really seem to care about kids - Our last school was a horrible experience so this year has come as a surprise and blessing for me! I wish we could stay forever!
My daughter attended Meadows for 3 years. We saw staff changes, building changes, and attitude changes. However, Meadows is still one of the best schools in the District. The school has book clubs, an involved PTA, tutoring, and even a robotic's team (Regional Champions, might I add). While every school has challenges, Meadows' staff strives to bring out the best in the students. I would recommend Meadows Elementary to anyone that wants to give their child a learning environment where the teachers really care about their students.
Horrible new teachers and a vice principal that does not do his job and treats parents like thier students
My son adjusted to this school in about 4 weeks , which was great comming from a private school. His teacher is very helpful. Safety is great. He loves the new playground. the lunches are less than $2. and the breackfasts for $1.30 are wonderfull. I don't have to cook anymore. He loves them. Great school all around.
My boys have both attended the school this year, in the new facility. LOVE IT. It's a bit larger than we're used to (four 4th grade classes!), and we miss having art in school. But the PTA is very involved, great volunteers and parent involvement, tons of wonderful activities (already listed in other reviews) make this one of the best schools we've worked with (eight so far, Army family...).
Both of my children attended Meadows for several years. The staff is exemplary, the academics challenging (my children were in the advanced classes) and the atmosphere warm and friendly. Any issues I had were dealt with promptly and professionally. You have to consider that it is a military school and the vast majority of officer's wives do not work outside the home and are active in their child's (children's) education. This is one of the reasons the PTA was phenomenal! I appreciated the teachers who volunteered their time after school to run chess, dance, choir and the book club!
I will say compare 2005 to 2006 my girls attitude about school is like night and day. Once they started going to Meadows they were back to looking forward to school once again. They have book club, chess club, choir, music, school carnival, fun contests, lots of parent involvement etc. etc. We look forward to starting in the all new building this August (2007).
We love Meadows! Our children's students are totally involved with our students and us. They keep us informed of anything we need to know. The Meadows website is also of value in keeping us informed of upcoming events. The PTA is an active part of this school.
This is one of the worst schools my child ever attended. The principal does nothing. The staff is rude and when you complain, nothing gets done. There are certain teachers who I've seen leave their classes (PK & K) with no one to watch over the children. They need new leadership and employees who actually like their job. Certain aides are made to stand out in rain and thunder to get children out of cars. My child hated it so much we moved off post so we'd be in a different school zone. The only thing Meadows has going for it is the wonderful and involved PTA.
My child has been at Meadows for three years. He is always happy to go to school. We have never had any problems with any of the staff or administration. Meadows has a very active PTA that does lots of wonderful things for the children. They also offer choir, dance, and chess after school.
My child has been at this school for 4 yrs and i have nothing good to say about this school. The teachers are rude, the principal does nothing the staff is terrible the lunch monitors are mean and abusive to the children and i will not put my child in this school again next year. They ruined his school experience right from jump street and i am so curious to find out how they managed to be the blue ribbon school the years they were. I am so disgusted with this school i want to take him out right now. It is a shame that a school on post is the way this one is.
We have been fortunate enough to be here for my daughter to begin pre-k in this school and to see her graduate from it. It is an outstanding school from the teachers to the curriculum to the hands on experiences in the classrooms. Meadows have great acheivements in test scores and has been voted an exemplary elementary school in the district. Because it is the oldest school on post, they are planning to build a new school within the next year or so.
