My son was at CCP for one year. It wasn't a good fit for him. There is no excurricular activities or sports of any kind. Our son is extremely athletic and social. CCP had 4-5 students (some part-time) and was substantially all academics from 8:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., with 30 minutes for lunch. Then, there's several hours of homework nightly. With that schedule, there was no time for excurricular activities. Both my husband and I are college graduates, so of course we want our child to receive a good education, but the academic load was a bit too much. To Ms. Willis's credit, she told us upfront that he would work like he has never worked before. We just didn't understand the meaning of that statement until we experienced it first hand. Did my son learn? Of course he did. How could he not? Personally, we prefer more balance in our lives. If your child is academically driven, then CCP may be a good school for your family.

I am a student that goes to christian cottage prep. i started in 7th grade. all my other years Ive been at another school. back then, i was excited to get a 70 on my math tests. with my scores on my iowa tests and standford achievement tests, no high school would have accepted me. i was easily the dumbest one in my old school. the road i was on, i would probably be nothing more than a McDonald employee. then, my math teacher recommended Mrs. Willis as a math tutor. i tutored with her for a while, and my parents were impressed with how her school ran, how well her previous students did in school, and how she was teaching me math. so instead of staying at the school i was at, and only learning anything when i tutored with Mrs. Willis, they decided to put me in her school. now, I'm in all honors. i have a grades so well, any high school will accept me. i won regional science fair last year, went to state in PSIA (Private School Interscholastic Association) for on-sight drawing, and i have more trophies that say 350% academic improvement than i know what to do with.

My daughter attends CCP for private tutoring and has also participated in the summer math camps that are offered. The small class sizes allow for individualized instruction in a non-threatening environment. CCP provides students with the challenges and necessary skills to reach higher levels of academic achievment. Mrs. Willis really strives to get her students excited about learning by using fun and creative methods of teaching. My daughter's experience at CCP has given her the academic help she needs while building her self-confidence as well.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

Oops! We currently do not have any student information for this school. We rely on the state Department of Education, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), and in some cases school administrators such as registrars and principals for this data.
