I simply cannot say enough about Burton Hill Elementary..all of my children have gone there and now my grandchildren..The school staff and Principal are awesome. They not only provide excellent education but compassion, compassion that my personal family experience during a family crisis. . Thank you Burton Hill Elementary Five stars aren't enough Laida Zaskoda
I have had 5 of my grandchildren in this school. I would like to say the special education program it terriffic. I have a mentally challenged grand-daughter who went to school here for 3 years and now she is prepared for middle school. The special olympics she has participated in have been wornderful. Her teacher was very supportive as well. She kept in contact with my daughter on the progress of my grand-daughter through all her challenges. Good work Burton Hill
Burton Hill has scored Exemplary the last 3 years on the TAKS test. The parent involvement is extremely high due to the school based activities. Burton Hill uses the slogan of " We ar Family", this is not just a saying but they live this everyday. They care about the students and families. They also get the community invloved in teaching the children by have volunteers come in the read, speak or just interact with classes. Burton Hill finds ways for each child to succeed in learning. They also reward kids based on individual gains not at the grade or class level, this makes for some friendly competition. The school has an open door policy, if you sign in, to assist the school and or classroom. The school provides a good mixture of religion, financilal diversity, and ethnicity to develop a well rounded young adult.
Burton HIll in an exceptional school with outstanding rating accross the board. Most of the teachers really care about the students success.
My daughter just finished first grade at Burton Hill and we can't say enough about this school. A previous poster mentioned their motto: "We are family" and they do a lot to live up to this. The first week or so of school the principal stood in front of the building greeting everybody. This made my daughter and I feel very welcome since we were new and from out of state. They had many activities throughout the school year for families to participate in. Parent participation and volunteerism is very much encouraged which I really liked. By the end of the year almost all the staff knew my daughter's name as they do everybody's and their family. Their standards of behavior are very high as well and teacher communication was outstanding.
My husband and I have been very impressed by this school. My son has really taken to this new place over the past year and has been really felt welcomed and loved. Mrs. Dugen the principal is easy to talk to about any issue we have had. There are monthly family activities during weeknights, such as Family Math Night ect.The teachers and staff are hand-picked, and really care about the well being of our children. We could not ask for more. The improvements look great, keep up the good work!
We came to this school in the middle of the yr from kisd where my son never had any problems and in fact was awarded many times. In the first 2 months of my son being at burton hill he has been to the principals office twice. I have seen parents that are dressed as a gang members, parents that do not wear appropiate clothing, and will run you over in the hallway. The kids have literally pushed me out of the way and my son. There are no smiles on the kids faces and none on the teachers faces!! The school wants dads to volunteer to greet children at the door and smile...the teachers who are paid and spend most of the day with our children should already be doing this. I have talked to the principal reguarding all this and she has totally blown me off and made mefeelbelittle.
I think this is a great school. Their motto 'We Are Family' they really mean it. The teachers and staff are all so nice and if they have any concerns of any kind they will try day and night to get ahold of you and work with you to resolve the issues. I love this school and so do my kids.
I love Burton Hill Elementary it is the best school in Fort Worth. I am especially happy with our Principal and Asst. Principal at Burton Hill, they make you feel like you can talk to them at anytime and always have there doors open to greet you. The Teachers at Burton Hill always seem happy and they all make a great team. I l.ove this school.
Safety issues present, primarily that two times a year they have a 2 hour luncheon in which the ENTIRE STAFF participates while parents come in and cover the classrooms and office. No background checks are required for the parents that come. I have also noticed teachers not paying attention to children on the playground - no active monitoring going on. I have seen children playing completely out of the teacher's sight. Playground equipment in back of school is in terrible shape and presents many safety hazards.
'We are family!' is BHE's motto; and do they mean it! When my family walks in to that school, we feel like we are home. I know that they have my child's best interest at heart and are looking out for him. The staff has a wonderful rapport with each other--at every level. There are some very devoted parents who volunteer and some community members (who don't even have children at the school) have formed the 'Burton Hill Fan Club' and supported the school in phenomenal ways! Someone had said to me that this school is a 'little gem.' I couldn't agree more!
My older 2 children attended BH and now my youngest 1 is. I have always loved this school. The teachers are incredible and it is nice that it is a smaller school. BH is on the right track. The improvements are wonderful . Keep up the great job!
I want to share that I don't think the Administrative staff does enough to control their classes. I am confused with the way things are done at BH and I want to know more.
all 4 of my boys have gone to burton hill and we have always been pleased with the progress. This is truly a small neighborhood school.
Burton Hill Elementary is improving compared to what the beginning of the school year. My daughter had to change teachers in the first month because her class was overlimit by the states regulations. We finally got a new principal 2 months ago, and she is definitely on a mission to fix up the problems that the old principal left behind. The old principal was very unorganized, let alot of things around the school go, and just made the school horrible. But we have a principal now who actually cares about the children, and has been working hard to improve our school. So hopefully Burton Hill has a brighter future now.
This school has the best curriculum in their classes. The staff has been the best for my child and for myself on any questions or problems we have ran into. I give 2 thumbs up for this school.
As a parent I want my children to be able to have fun while learning. At Burton Hill Elementary my children do. The staff is wonderful and love each student. Our Principal is awesome! She treats all of our children as if they were hers. Being a teacher these days can be hard, but our teachers and staff at the best!! If you want our children to be in a safe place that allows them to have fun while learning and teaches them to do their very best this is the place to be.
