First, you do not get an update on your child's progress. You have no idea where your child's grades are coming from, what they are doing in class or what they are being tested on. When you ask for additional information teachers do not tell you or give you a follow up call. It's very frustrating. I wonder if they even plan their lessons in advance. My daughter has attended the school for two years now. I feel like she is not getting nearly the structured environment or and education that most schools would require. Would it hurt to give her homework on a daily basis? Or send home what they are working on for the week or day? Some parents do care about their children's education. Second, they do not have recess and the lunch is terribly unhealthy. It's all processed food with very little vegetables. It's no wonder that so many children in Fort Worth or obese. lol...even the gym teacher is morbidly obese. She's supposed to teach them about health and she doesn't even look healthy? Third, the teachers are inexperienced. I wonder if turnover is high? Teachers tend to miss a lot of days of school too. My daughter has a substitute once about every two weeks.

I have 2 kids at oakhurst; grades Pre-K and Kindergarten. One attends a bilingual program and the other ESL. The Teachers are great and the Principals are nice. The sign indicating that its a recognized school undermines many other things that hundreds of parents dont get to see. In response to the 3 parents that have posted a 'review', go to the meetings, visit the school, talk to the teachers, eat lunch with your kid, dont just drop him off at the front. Its a big school with many students cause many parent move near the school just so they can sent their kid(s) there. 'My kid goes to Oakhurst' is like a fad these days. They do have reces cause thats one of my kids 'favorite class' and they do give out awards for good grades, we have two: 'Best Improved' and 'Most Noble'. I like this school alot.

I like Oakhurst. They have great teachers and caring staff. I would have to say that the only downfall to this school is that it has such a large student count.

My children have been attending Oakhurst for three years and not once have they had a reward for good grades on thier report card. The only thing that I heard they give rewards for is perfect attendence. I asked once about a A or B hono roll and they informed me that they didn't have any honor roll there.

My son has attended this school going on 2 years he has been injured several times and the 'vice-Principle' tries to blame it on him even though he always achieves excellent behavior and grade scores. they attempt at making their school look good on the web page but there are no perks at this school they do not even have recess! i believe the main goal is to achieve high scores on the state tests and that is all that matters. the students are no longer important.
