This school offers a very friendly atmosphere, but seems they are academically challenged. Other than management, it will be required from all parents to get involved with child(ren)'s education. It is imperative that we show support and pressure the school system to do better in all aspects. Looking at the 2010 - 2011 TAKS tests, we were considered "ACADEMICALLY UNACCEPTABLE". This speaks volumes not only for teachers, but for school management; most importantly, who ends us losing... our children. We have to raise awareness and get involved!

Awsome school. The school has come along way. Lots of excellent instruction from the staff. The staff is welcoming to students and parents. The after school program is great. There are alot more sports and community events. Parent meetings are fun as well as full of lots of useful information. Everyone really cares at D.McRae.

Over all it is a good school and my child does very well. I have noticed the Principal does not support sports or other activities that children love to do after school. There is only two after school activities that I am aware of and that is the Clayton after school program and tutoring. I do wish Mr Vasquez would take some action to address this.

Academic programs are above average. Not much sports, but extracurricular activities are great. Many parents join meetings and conferences to discuss the quality, not only of instruction, but overall school worth.

I think this school is starting to pick up now that we have a better principal. But they should have more activities for the kids there are not any from where I see as far as sports and afterschool programs.
