Clute Intermediate School is a unique place to be. We are a 5th-8th grade school in one building. Our campus feels like a home, our staff feels like family and we work very hard to ensure that it stays that way. Anytime a teacher or staff member needs volunteers for a project, other staff are willing to step in and help. Whether it's chaperoning a dance or judging Cupcake Wars, we are always happy to help each other. While we are expending with our available technology options and the use of technology, we are still a little behind the curve. We would definitely benefit from grants for technology. I also feel that we could improve with regard to parent involvement. The younger grades usually have great parent involvement, but getting the parents of the almost high school age students involved can be a challenge. Overall, CIS is my home and my family and I am very proud to be a Clute Cougar!

My children all three chose to attend Clute Intermediate even though we lived in Lake Jackson because of the greater opportunities to participate in school aactivities. All three did excellent and the staff was excellent.

I say that the school is a excellent school is great but they should be able to wear flip flops just like any other school.

About the tests


In 2012-2013, the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) was used to test students in reading and math in grades 3 through 8; in writing in grades 4 and 7; in science in grades 5 and 8; in social studies in grade 8; and end-of-course assessments for English I, II, and II, Algebra I and II, biology and US History. STAAR is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Texas. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.

The different student groups are identified by the Texas Education Agency; if there are a small number of students in a particular group, the state doesn't report data for that group.
