This is a school that says one thing, but does another. Father Clay is great, but other head staff are appalling. If you have a perfect child in every way, I'd say go for it. If not... Look elsewhere. Certain personnel will make you miserable every day. God said every child is wonderfully made. Certain people at this school in charge do not agree.
For a school that is only 3 years old, SPA is amazing. Many of the kids are from the church or preschool, but a lot are not. Parents are attracted to the personal attention and exceptional academic instruction. They move at a pretty fast pace, so if your child is pretty bright and gets bored when things are easy, this is a good school for them. The classes are very small, like a dozen or less in each grade and its been my experience that they treat each other like siblings (that is usually a good thing- LOL). The staff all give the kids a lot of attention and teach them what to do when they don't get along. The director works very closely with the teachers and knows each of the students very well. She is in the classroom a lot and teaches some classes. I know she prays for the students and their parents and she knows her stuff when it comes to kids! Our family loves the way the kids learn to serve others and be generous. SPA sponsors a girl in India and talks to classes in Belize. They do shoe drives and make valentine cards for people who live in nursing homes. They have a new building that will open in a few months and it is beautiful. We can't say enough good things about SPA!
The small class size coupled with exceptions academics is why we attend St. Philips. The educators are able to cover more in-depth in topics and move as the entire class masters skills. Children are challenged on a daily basis to grasp concepts and put them into use. There is a focus on the "whole student" as well which is important for the next generation of leaders to change the world.
The educators for this academy are top notch. There is a lot of individualized attention to encourage the children to excel. We have seen our child truly flourish. The lesson plans and academic educaiton seem to be continually challenging in important academic areas such as reading, science and math. We feel very blessed to be part of this amazing school.
St. Philips is a wonderful school! I can't say enough nice things about the teachers, Dean and Director. This school goes above and beyond to work with every child. I consider myself blessed to have found this school and you will too. The classes are small, education is great, people are kind and they really love the kids. It is simply the best...
Excellent small private Christian school with lots of individualized attention for both the slower learners as well as the accelerated learners. Each morning starts with chapel, making a great foundation for the rest of the day. iPads and computers facilitate learning, in addition to small groups for reading and math. The leaders of the school are active in daily activities. We are excited to place our younger child here for kindergarten in a couple of years as well.
This is an amazing school! We started mid year after trying the local public school. I have to say now that I am so happy the local school was not a fit for us. St. Philip's Academy exceeded our expectations in every way possible. My son learned so much there. They do not have to follow a state curriculum so they do advanced work in reading, writing, math, science, technology, art etc. They use iPads in class, and also have a chance to skype with children in Belize at a school as part of a mission program. They go to chapel daily and get to sing and praise the Lord and have bible lessons each day. This gem of a school makes sure to teach the whole person in wisdom, faith, and love. You will not be disappointed!
