We had our kid enroll in the middle of the year for the 2nd grade since we were relocating to this area. The staff at this school were extremely helpful and made the whole admission process a breeze. The teachers took extra interest to bring our kid upto speed and make her feel at ease. The teachers are doing a great job in keeping our kid academically challenged. We are extremely happy to have our kid be a student of this school.
We were aobut to move , one of the reasons that made us change our minds and stay was Curtsinger Elementary, this is an amazing school!
The spirit of the staff and support of the parents is unparalleled in excellence, and is a fitting tribute to the legacy of this school. It's namesake, Claude Curtsinger, would undoubtedly be quite proud.
This was our first year at Curtsinger as my son entered Kindergarten. We were so lucky and blessed to have Mrs. Rhodes. She was wonderful. My son learned so much from her. She is also a very warm and loving teacher. Her kids never questioned whether she cared or not. It was shown everyday. She is so organized and creative. I am hoping that my daughter will get her this fall. At the end of school all the kids got a picture with her and sweet little sayings. She took the time to make all of it special for each student. The school is great, the atmosphere is terrific and the teachers are wonderful. Julie B
Curriculum and teaching quality is overall good but not exceptional. The overall approach can be improved. This school is well suited for slightly above average kids but a high energy gifted kid gets stifled because of the norms, traditions and protocol. The administration & teachers need to have a more open minded approach to channel the energy of gifted kids instead of getting frustrated and averaging out the kid to an acceptable level.
My child has attended since K and has had very little trouble but...I am very disappointed in the new principle. She has her heart in the right place I hope but..she is a micro-micro manager. She wants anything and everything to go through her. Letters to parents and teachers even if she approved them from last year. She will only answer the phone on speakerphone and to me that is unprofessional and very uncomfortable. She has changed the whole atmosphere of the school. As a parent I find it very difficult to volunteer for anything with out her 'laying down the law' in the meetings to what brands of food they can have for parties due to a contract they have with a food company or what presents we can give to the teachers. I really miss our old principle with her happy go lucky personality.
My child has attended this school for many yeara. Academic programs are great, teachers are great and very attentive. New assistant principal lacks alot of experience and should go back to teaching.
The school has an excellent staff of teachers, administrators with excellent parental involvement. The school activities range from book fairs, music shows and family nights outside of school. It is a great school and my son is in fourth grade.
Cirtsinger is an awesome school. Very family oriented, and very challenging. The kids are encouraged to help others, and achieve also. Great atmosphere!
I love this school. After a completely unsuccessful school year at Barksdale Elementary in Plano and many pleas to have my daughter tested for dyslexia, I finally did so myself. I brought her to Scottish Rite Hospital and just as I thought, she was diagnosed as dyslexic and dysgraphic. The education of my child is too important to leave her with a Principal that it too concerned with outward appearances and budget dollars to help a struggling learner in need. I found the absolute polar opposite at Curtsinger Elementary. My daughter is thriving! And reading! The teachers are amazing and compassionate! The are equipped to handle differences with compassion and expertise. There are not words enough to express the gratitude that I feel for the administration, and entire staff of this school. Outstanding!
Very pleased with the curriculum that Ms. Brown has in her lesson plan for my kindergartener. The special attention to detail and caring attitude shows in each work my child brings home. Great open communication with teacher.
This is the best elementary school I have ever seen, and I have a spouse that was a teacher for 5 years! The level of parental involvement is outstanding, and the teaching and administration is exceptional. Ms. Boyce and Mr. Parr do a fantastic job. They have had in the past 12 months: The Fort Worth Opera, Chris VanAllsberg (the author of The Polar Express), and many other performers and companies come to the school to enhance the academic and social atmosphere of this institution. I can't say enough of this school and how it has positively affected my daughter's attitude and aptitude for school work!
This is a wonderful school. The teachers are great , the principal is wonderul. There is a great relationship between parents and teachers
This is an awesome school! The students love coming to school here, and learning. The principal is great, and great at keeping students excited about learning. Their test scores are off the charts, and the children are not as nervous about taking the test. They think it is fun! The students enjoy this school. I have not been in a better school, and regret leaving!
I have twin daughters that started kindergarden this year. The counseling staff was very helpful and sensitive to the unique bond of twins, and honored my request to allow them in the same classroom. I am told that it is rare that this happens. This school truely is about putting the child's needs first. The cirriculum is carried out in a creative way that relates to children. There is alot of parent-teacher communication which I found reassuring. This is an exellent school.
Excellent involvement by parents and teachers. Solid focus on learning and fun. Children are well behaved and really enjoy Pep Rallies on Fridays - they teach spirit for school, respect for others and attentive listening.
This is a fine school if your child is perfectly behaved. Once a child gets on the bad side of the teachers and administration, the child will never be given a fair second chance. The child is shipped to an alternative school where the staff at Cursinger then forget about them and make excuses about how busy they are with the other students. I feel if my child would have had more positive consistent attention, he would have had a better experience at this school.
Raised five kids and Curtsinger is by far the best elementary school I've experienced. The kids enjoy the environment, the teachers are friendly and best of all the kids are challenged and learn. Over three years of excellent results for our family!
