Can somebody tell me if I should go to Wester or Clark? I know them two schools are practically rivals, but after school I could walk over to my mom's school (Centennial High School) and stay with her after school and plus I could have a "reunion" with one of my old friends I have known since pre-k. But at Clark, none of that would happen. I would just stay with the jerk "friends" that I know now.
Wester is a great school. They attend to the needs of the students, and also the ones that need extra help. They try to be sure that everyone is on task and does their work daily. Communication is wonderful in that the teachers will email you if your child is not doing well, or if they are doing well.
Before i came here I felt like just another kid lost in the crowd. Cliche, but i felt like i had no important talents. Most of my other schools the teacher didn't pay and special attention to certain students who needed help (like me, I have ADHD) and let our talents be ignored. At Wester, they help focus on our best qualities and certain problems. They help remind us to turn in HW, they keep the agenda and online homework printouts updates (mostly), and find ways to make people who work differently work with the same subject and project. It probably saved me from giving up on my talents. A short example is that I'm good at History, Science, and English, and so a teacher recommended me for the Academic Pentathlon, and I can be a strong link there and feel important.
Wester used to be awful because Frisco didn't expand fast enough when they had a quick population increase. However, his year alone 5 more schools were added. So yes, they used to be over-crowded, the teachers didn't have enough eyes to watch all of the students, and there was definitely a problem with how they treated each other, but mostly that problem has been fixed, at least as well as it can at a middle school. We resolved the violence problem when new schools opened, there are some students who don't even try to succeed, and some teachers are unorganized, but compare it to other schools and it's a great school.
Love this school because the staff is so attentive and really cares about our kids!
One of the best schools around. It is a great school, where students are treated as individuals and have every chance to succeed. Go by and see for yourself. You will be greeted with open arms and made to feel at home.
Wester Middle School is doing a great job educating our children. You can tell they really care about the kids. I have had two kids go through Wester and I can tell you over the past two years they have really weeded out the teachers that do not care and replaced them with very caring, understanding teachers. I also think the teachers hold our kids to a higher standard. I give Wester an A+!
I have been very disappointed in Wester. The teachers and faculty seem to be indifferent and at times down right uncaring and rigid. No brownie points for helping children acclimate from elementary to middle school. Concerns aren't addresses but met with a defensive attitude and indignation. The most caring and warmest adults there are the cafeteria workers!
Wester Middle School is by far the worst school my daughter has gone to. There have been reports of numerous roberies, many beatings/jumpings, name calling, fighting, pantsing, and other violences. But the faculty is as bad! Over all, I am not letting my daughter go to Wester next year, or the new Roach Middle School opening, because the same people will be attending there. I will pay extra and put my child in a dascent private school.
This school is definitely overcrowded. They didn't have enough lockers for all the students. The school had their 'Cat Camp', for students to get to know their way around and meet the teachers. Unfortunately, the invitations weren't received until after the 'Cat Camp' had already taken place. The teachers are unorganized, rude to parents & students and aren't very experienced. The school is only a couple of years old, but looks like it's 20+ years old on the inside. The traffic in and out of the school is very chaotic. School starts at 9:00am, which is difficult for working parents. Maybe, as the year goes along, I can find something positive to post about the school.
