Used to be a great school! The change in administration brought the school to a very unsafe and unwelcome enviorment. Teachers are all wonderful, but the need to keep working, keeps them quiet. The first four years my child loved Huggins. The last two have had her begging to be moved or home. This has been my family's experience, so we have to find another school that will keep my kids safe.

While my son's teacher was exceptional, he has ADD and we didn't know it at the time. He needed special tutoring or something to help him focus more on reading...but the school simply didn't have the resources for it. I'm not sure why, as they are in the Lamar district, which is in the same district as Hubenak who has MANY more resources for his special needs. They simply weren't very flexible with my child's needs. He loves to read at this point in time, since he moved to Hubenak, because they are aware that he NEEDS individual help and they provide this for him. Sorry..but he didn't enjoy this school.

My son is in kindergarden and he loves it! I love this school. They have great teachers and the FOH is the best. I hate he will be zoned to a new school next year.

I have a little one at kindergarden, and her teacher is awesome, kind, loving and made my little one feel at home within the first week. People there are warm and friendly. I love it.

Huggins is a dream school! I have a first, third and fourth grader. It has been three years and I have not one complaint. The school has been rated exemplary and with good reason. The teachers are amazing. They are qualified, caring, extremely patient and loving. Moms are always welcomed (Dads too). The staff is professional and very friendly. My kids are thriving both academically and emotionally. They are excellent students, much due to the loving support of their teachers. Two of them are in the gifted program which is a wonderful bonus to the already fabulous Huggins experience. The principal is very bright and driven to exceed educational standards. She is well liked, respected, and involved in every way. It is a joy to be a part of Huggins, knowing my kids elementary years will always be a memorable part of their lives.

Huggins has an excellent special needs program and has wonderful programs for encouraging children to read and learn to enjoy reading. Music, arts, science, computer work, library plus physical education - all available and well taught. Huggins works by positive reinforcement of ideas and ideals and this works well due to a well focussed staff.
