Unfortunately, parent statement on 2/27/10 is right. I pulled my son out of the school. There is a lot of gossip and caddiness, including from the principal. The reason you have such high scores is because of the income and parental involvement. It has little to do with the teachers. People disagree with that statement because they don't want to be seen as what they really are because that would require change. I did pull my son and would not let subsequent siblings go. The high school is horrible with high substance abuse and pregnancy.

This school is for you if all you care about is your kids excelling on government standardize tests. This school gets excellent ratings here. This is NOT a school where one can learn to be creative and think for themselves. Also, one year our son had a great teacher, but the following year she was let go because she did not conform. This was because instead of sitting in the teacher lounge and gossiping about students and parents, she instead prepared for her class and worked with students. Keep in mind gossiping among the teachers is a big problem at this school. We moved to a new school because it became so bad. In my opinion, I would never review a school solely on the State of Texas ratings. When searching for a better school we found this site to be the most informative.

Jo Ann Ford Elementary is the best school!! We have one daughter there and two others on the way there and we absolutely LOVE this school. We would not even consider moving out of this area due to the fact that we have been so pleased with the school and the teachers at it.

Some disipline messures are not acceptable. IE: taking away PE for non-performance on grades. All kids in the same grade should be participating in the same sort of activities, scheduling classes should be a administration requirement. There are 5 fourth grade classes and only 4 exchange classes, excluding 1/5 of the fourth grade from this activity and experience.

I have two of my boys currently attending Jo Ann Ford Elementary in Georgetown, Texas. I have been very pleased with the quality of education they are receiving. My oldest son has been diagnosed as dyslexic and the staff has done an excellent job in getting him up to and beyond grade level. The teachers at Jo Ann are highly qualified and do an outstanding job caring for the kids. I do feel they are genuine and sincere with the boys. I think there is a very high level of parent involment in our school community. I think the art and music programs are excellent. However, I think the physical education program need work. I do wish the teachers were able to teach a wider spectrum instead of having to teach only to the TAKS.
