The teachers are wonderful and all truly care about the success and future of the kids that attend. They each work incredibly hard to make their lesson plans fun and interesting to engage the students and facilitate their learning.
This is a wonderful school. Teachers are use higher level questioning and activities is all classes. Great mix of 'scholars' and lots of parent support.
My son went to McCoy for 4th and 5th grade. He had a wonderful experience and, I feel, received a quality education with excellent teachers. The school is very 'child friendly' and allows them to remain childlike while teaching respect and responsiblity. He was new to the school and welcomed immediately by teachers who also encouraged classmates to incorporate him in their circles. Our experience was the best!
It is very difficult for any parent that may not agree with everything this school does. They do not honor opions that differ from theirs. This makes things hard for everyone.
The principal is very forward thinking. In cooperation with the teaching staff, encourages the scholars to be responsible and accountable for themselves, which gives each scholar a great deal of self confidence. Quality learning environment for children.
All my kids have gone to McCoy, not only because we are in the district, but because it is a great school. The teachers are great and explain things well. I hope every one gets how nice it is.
My son was at McCoy during his third grade year and he really enjoyed it there. He had a hard time opening up at first due to his shyness but the teachers worked with him and he started to express himself much more over the short year we were there. He also made a dramatic improvement on his grades with the caring attitude his teachers demonstrated. My son has gone on to another school since we now live in Austin and I wish I could say that his grades have not suffered however, as he states the school does not show him the encouragement that McCoy did. I would have to say that McCoy is the one of the best schools that my son has attended. I would give it a 5 star rating any day.
