Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

This is a great school with great teachers and staff. Both of my children loved this school.

It's certainly not the best school ever. But I have to say, I really love all my teachers, and the GT program is very great.

I attended this schoolas a youth and I have to say it was the worst experience of my life. The administration was unattentive and did not care. Some of the teachers were wonderful, but others seemed to just go through the motions. I hope it has changed.

My daughter has a few learning disabilities. She is treated like a juvenile deliquent. Today I was upset because the teacher forgot to send them to lunch and the v-principle refused to make any arrangements. SO my child came home hungry from school. What would have been so wrong to let my child have a meal? I loved Gilmer school district up until the Jr. High. Now I want out of it.

If your child has learning disabilities, expect your child to place in d-hall at least once a week. It's the whole class, not just my child. I do not have problems with other classes just the one. They expect too much from the children. Even having a meeting did not help. My child is getting d-hall over silly things. No one will work with you. SO if your child has disabilities this is not a good school.

School is ranked as acceptable, which to a student means a grade of c and failing. Superintendent does not return concerned parent calls, correspondence neither does principal copied on the correspondence. Summer school retest students on parts of test they miss until they pass. A test my child told me about was multiple choice in math where this occured! when you ask for assistance with the student they lose your file and request. Fortunately i can remove my child from this embarrassment of a school system, but what about the parents that cannot afford to do so? Instead of building more buildings perhaps they should spend it on hiring quality personnel. Great job superintendent and principal!

If you have a problem with a teacher, do not expect any help from anyone. Especially the Vice Principal. She is about the most unfriendlist person I've met.
