The parents at this school are very active. The parents have a strong sense of being active participants in the activities. Of course, the kids are great. Sadly, leadership is lacking and uneven. The teaching my child received was not consistent. Personal experience with some staff was unprofessional. This small school does not afford much choice when staff is not meeting your child's need. There is not a lot of extra activities available at the present time, but the involved parents are working on getting new programs implemented.
Godley is a wonderful school district. My family and I moved to Haltom City (near Ft.Worth) for one year and the school system in that area is so much further behind Godley's. My son was placed in advanced classes and the work he was doing was the work that he had done in third grade in Godley. It is wonderful to be back to where the teachers actually care and the students are not just a number.
There are no extra curricular activities. No science fair or art fair...if your child isn't a great athlete there is nothing! Many of the teachers followed the principal from the high school and are treating the kids like high school students. These are 3, 4, and 5th graders. I cannot recommend this school to anyone.
So far my daughter (3rd grade - Mrs. Whitehead, teacher) has done very well adjusting to a new school, and new curriculum. The academic program is strictly followed as set out by the state. There are many 'extra' activities available for each child to choose from, which is one reason why we moved to a smaller town, so our children would have more opportunities to get involved. The principal, and the teachers, welcome the parents involvement with the school, and would probably like more from the parents in helping on a day to day basis at the school. Parents are encouraged from day one as well as provided with materials to help their children at home. Overall, we are glad about moving to Godley and are pleased with the school.
