I teach at the high school and although it isn't perfect...compared to neighboring schools HF is great. I took the job here because of a fairly stress-free teaching environment and so my son could go to school here. Anyone who complains should try other local school district. I have taught at other schools and would rather be at HF then anywhere else.
I graduated class of 08 and I truly believe HF was a wonderful school to attend. I went there K-12 and I was so proud to be a longhorn. I would like to see my children go there one day. There is so much variety with choosing classes and electives. Most of the teachers are willing to work with the students, even before and after school. I would recommend this school to anyone. It was a wonderful smalltown feel and everyone is very close.
Any one who says this school is below average, obviously doesn't know much about it. There are amazing teachers, many many advanced and dual credit classes available, and tons of extra-curriculars. The majority of kids at this school are weel behaved. There are hardly ever drug and alchohol problems (yes there are some kids who drink and do drugs, but that isn't the majority), there are barely any fights, and absolutely no gangs. It is an incredible school in a very good district. I know what bad schools look like, and anyone who says that Hamshire-Fannett is a bad school obviously has no idea what a bad school is.
I am a graduating senior and can say that this is one of the best schools in the area. I can personally vouch that this school has much better standards than many other schools. Our advanced courses are always interesting, and each year the list grows with new choices. Parents are very involved, from kindergarten to the senior classmen, you always get a good turnnout of parents who want to do their share to help their kids. Ive gone to this school my entire life, and wouldn't have had it any other way.
I would not recommend this school district to anyone. Many drug and alcohol problems. Last year they lost they entire English department, and both French teachers. The teachers that are there have very little experience. Not many choices when it comes to elective choices. I had to fight to get my child into AP classes that she was qualified for because they did not have the room.
