The teachers are careless and the majority of the students are the same as a result, however, they are not to blame, there is much poverty in Harlingen and as a result it doesn't take alot to be in the top ten percent if you try. Additionally, the teachers are underpaid.

My son attends Harlingen High School South and every single teacher i have gotten the chance to meet, have just blown me away because of their desire to teach and just how much they know. In the three years he's attended this school he changed from a wild child out of control student to a very disciplined trust-worthy young man. The principals are fair in their judgments and are strict with their disciplinary rules. Because of all of this professionalism and quality assurance that my son is getting the best education he can possibly recieve, i'd like to say that i have yet to see any other school top the quality educatin that my son is recieving. That is why i am proud to say that my son attends the best school in south Texas and I too am a parent whose son is enrolled in Harlingen High School South.
