We moved away from Mc Auliffe, and we miss it so much! I want to let people know that the prinicpal, staff, and teachers make great efforts to create a positive atmosphere and a great academic environment. The community is involved in this school to the point it feels like a large family. We live in an area now where the school does not have a program like Great Expectations to build values of respect and responsibility, and our child can feel it. Mc Auliffe teaches kids to be good people while not forgetting about academics. PTA members and even staff may show a bit of favoritism at times, I agree, but I found if you jump in and get to know everyone, all are good people who try to be fair. Miss this school!

I am sad to hear that you feel this way about our school. I know many of those PTA women and I am surprised to hear anyone say such things about any of them. I am sure that you have your reasons for feeling this way but you should know that the staff leadership does not choose the PTA leaders...they are voted on by families in a voting process. You may have legitimate frustrations on a personal level With some of the moms but it is unfair to label the entire staff and PTA with such ugliness. As one of those moms myself, I know that is not an accurate portrayal. I am sorry to hear that anyone feels this way though. Perhaps you should talk with someone on the board. I am sure that any one of us would be happy to help sort things out.

My portrayal is 100% accurate. Be very cautious about sending your children to this school.

I feel so fortunate that all three of my children have been able to attend school at McAuliffe. I couldn't be happier with their experience there. The principal is the BEST, the teachers are wonderful, and the office staff is helpful and friendly. They truly go above and beyond at this school. I really believe that they do everything in their power to nurture happy, conifdent kids.

We have been at McAuliffe for 8 years. Our last child moves on to middle school next year and our entire family will miss the staff, events and loving atmosphere & excellent learning environment McAuliffe has provided all these years. We have not once in our 8 years have had a teacher we were not thrilled with, nor have our children ever complained about their teachers!! Both kids have excelled at McAuliffe and we are forever thankful for their hard work and dedication to making McAuliffe a great place to learn but also a fun place to go to school!!!

McAuliffe is an amazing school. We have great students who know what it means to work hard. We have great teachers who care about the overall child, and we have an excellent community base with wonderful, supportive parents. I can't imagine being anywhere else. From Chili Cook-off to community service to clubs for every student, I really think McAuliffe is a great place not only for students, but also for families. I know we aren't perfect, but I do believe that we will love the kids, provide a safe environment for them, and teach kids to work hard and play hard.

I have had children in this school since 2003. I have loved every teacher each of my children have had. I have never had a problem with communication. The principal at McAuliffe goes above and beyond for the school. If my kids see her outside of school, she always takes the time to say "hello." They plan so many fun activities, from Chili Cook-Off to movie nights, my kids love them all. She's always coming up with new ideas, I truly wonder if she ever gets a full nights' rest. The librarian at McAuliffe gets the kids so excited to read. I have seen some of the classes she has taught in the library & she is amazing with the kids. It is a wonderful school & I am proud to have my children go there.

McAuliffe Elementary has the best program in LISD and work hard to bring the grades of each child up. The state and district have created a number of rules which hinder the teachers from doing what is best for the individual child but this school has a proactive approach to meet each childs needs. Keep up the good work.

The principal at McAuliffe is exceptional, with excellent communication skills w/parents when needed. The staff was not nearly as good at communicating with the parents, I found out some grades weren't where they ought to be almost too late - even after I requested meetings several ways and several times. The habit of making parents attend PTA meetings b/c they're waiting for a child's performance was irritating at best. Overall though, staff could improve but very good.

Interesting, in resonse to another post, at the McAuliffe Elementary where my children go, the grades are online, available anytime and are numeric beginning in 1st grade. (Our kinder doesn't even use Y/N.) The teachers also send home a special report at least 3 times a year that tell the reading level. We also get report cards every 6 weeks and 3 week progress reports if students are below 75. Parents have so many opportunities to communicate with the teachers regarding their child's progress. I just wanted to clarify. I am sure there are numerous McAuliffe Elementary Schools.
