River Oaks provides small classes, a structured environment, loving and extremely capable teachers and staff. It has been a wonderful environment for my teenage daughter, who has had a lot of difficulty functioning in a mainstream public school classroom. She loves being a big fish in a small pond

ROA staff are understanding, dedicated, and exemplars of special educators. Though TEA and other accreditation compliance overtax administrative personnel, they know each pupil and his/her needs and work with ISD personnel as well as parents and mental-health professionals to provide basic educational service for those to whom such may even be a stretch and the enriched, educational demanding curricula for those who are quite intellectually capable even if behavioral issues have interferred with their education in a typical classroom setting. Counseling is added, though limited, benefit (which could be improved). Our daughter has been in BAC class, therapeutic setting and other placements, and by far the most satisfactory has been ROA. It may literally have saved her life, but there is absolutely no doubt it has dramatically advanced her educational, intellectual, social-skill, interpersonal, and career potential. Top of the heap in a special-education community that in fact contains numerous choices. 100%

Very good school that meets many different special needs of children. Small school with little frills, but the attention to students is not lacking. Parent communications with staff could be improved, but they work well with students.

Great school! They really get to know your child. They can help children other schools refuse to give a change!
