This is an excellent school. My two older children graduated from this school and my youngest is in Kindergarten. Learning is a serious business and academic excellence should be the goal of every child. The principal and her staff work hard to impact this to the children. They should be applauded. Their dedication and committment to these children is very inspiring.

Our children are new to the school and attend 1st & 3rd grade. I totally agree with the negative comments about the stricness and stess levels. However, to rate it a poor school is just not possible. Education is high, and the teachers and principals do care about the children. They just need to chill a little!

I have had two children go through this school. My husband and I have decided to not have our third child go to Bush. The stress level has been too much for us and our children. Both children did very well, but it came at a price. I have two very stressed and burnt out children. The children are expected to be almost robotic, not just in the classroom but in ancillary, the lunchroom, even on the playground. Children have their whole adult life to be stressed, shouldn't elementary be one of the fondest memories we have?

I like the school. The kids are very polite and the teachers are very concerned about all the students. The teachers get involved with their classes and most of all are eager to learn or hear about your child after he/she goes to the next grade.

Instead of trying to put kids in a box that fits the school needs to get high TAKS scores, the administration should be teaching the kids to stretch out for the stars. So what if 90% of their kids pass TAKS with at least a 70%. This school is all about their own image and not about teaching kids to love school and become life long learners.

My child has attended Bush since K and is now in 4th grade. I have been an active volunteer since day 1. The school overall has an excellent record for academics. 4th grade is tough, but the 4th grade teachers make it tougher. I have spoken with the assistant principals on several occassions and when all was said and done, I wondered why I wasted my time. They appeared not to be interested in anything I said, all they wanted to do was talk about my child's academics and not about why I asked for this meeting in the first place. There is no counsler on staff to talk to if your child is having problems or if the parent would like to talk to someone about their child. All problems great and small are to go to the assistant principal or principal.

I think this school spends to much time doing everything but teach our kids how to read and write. This school is a joke. My child learns more from me in one day then she has from this school all year.

I love this school. The prinicipal is wonderful as so are her teachers. The parent involvment in this school is great!
