I am a Docent at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. I give tours to Houston ISD 4 grd students. Today, Thursday 13, 2012, I had the privilege of working with 6 students from Bruce Elementry here in Houston. I would like to post that these 6 childre were very attentive and had knowledge of how things work, as in what happens to oil on water, what happens to drill tips (get very hot), could name many things made from oil, This was just amazing considering Bruce Elem. is a Public school not in the best of location of Houston. I believe the parents (and) teachers of this group have done well. My thanks.

When I enrolled my daughter in Aug '10 I was excited. I was commuting over an hour to get her to this school. In very little time the school went to NOTHINGS! The principal was fired from the school because the school was not anywhere close to meeting the standards. The teachers are too worried about weather they will be keeping their jobs to even care about educating the kids. My child along with 18 out of the 21 students in her class are WAY BELOW their level. They bring in a new principal who wants to enforce changes one month before school ends. WTH do they think that our kids education is a joke?! She is trying to enfore attendance when in reality they should be worried about teaching. Parents strated caring very little because they saw that our kids were NOT learning a thing. ALL grades are behind academically! Needless to say, my daughter is not going back to this school and while speaking to other parents...I can already count about 20 who are not sending their kids back to this school. HORRIBLE!!!! Parents try to be involved and are not allowed. The only teachers who care are their music teachers. They are very dedicated but what's the point if our kids cant even read?!

This school is a very good school for students, they have an exelent music program. Wich teaches the kids how to play real musical instruments. It also has very good teachers that give individul atention to a studen if and when needed. I would definetly recomend this school to other parents.
