I am currently a student at Hartman is a really great school hands down . Our Principal , AP'S and Teachers work hard and only care about helping us improve academically .Yes there are many issues that take place in Hartman as far as Bullying , Fights , and stuff but the problems are always solved . Sports at Hartman are taken very seriously , but the Coach's here don't care about losing it all about the fundamentals , experience , and having fun. One thing that I love about Hartman is that the adults there dont care how you act they just want us to succeed and be somebody in life , they see potential in every student. They're very strict at Hartman so dont send your child there if they can't take alot of pressure and tend not to listen to other adults (JUST A WARNING)

Beautiful great school. No students roaming the halls, all is in order. Great Principal and staff reaching out to community as well. Improvements have been drastic and a much better future for the students. As a community leader I am in and out and have contact with principal and teachers. Great experience.

This school needs a great deal of support from HISD. A high level of bullying was observed at this school among students. Unfortunately staff and administrators never intervened and were also disrespectful towards students. More concerning was the high level of disrespect between administrators and teachers. After observing over 50 schools across the U.S. this was the most disappointing school, especially since there is so much potential at this school.

You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still just a pig. The new school is beautiful, but it is still the old Hartman. The teachers & principal do not genuinely care about teaching. Parents concerns are constantly ignored. The students run around like animals. I went in for my child's "award ceremony", (no award was given, they just read her name), and it was like being in the movie "Lean on Me". They cannot control the kids, and so they give up. I am pulling my child out this year. No one who actually cares about their child's education would send their child here. This is a place people send their kids because its the law. I feel bad for the parents & kids that have to enroll here that really do want better for themselves. The teachers & principal should be reevaluated & constantly watched over.

About the tests


In 2012-2013, the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) was used to test students in reading and math in grades 3 through 8; in writing in grades 4 and 7; in science in grades 5 and 8; in social studies in grade 8; and end-of-course assessments for English I, II, and II, Algebra I and II, biology and US History. STAAR is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Texas. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.

The different student groups are identified by the Texas Education Agency; if there are a small number of students in a particular group, the state doesn't report data for that group.
