Long middle school has wonderful teachers, has a wonderful way to reward hard working and good kids, and has a wonderful principle. The only problem in the school is the students. The majority of the students are Hispanic, and they are smart, but they aren't successful because they want to be "bad" in order to be "cool", they are under the peer pressure of other students to curse and misbehave. If you think your child is strong enough to not be changed by this school, send them here, because the teachers treat the good students who put effort into school like angels ( student of the month, honor roll, student drawing, reading challenges, etc.). This school has the best teachers you will find, they help and understand the child's circumstances in learning and life.
The school is undergoing changes and staff-development. The teachers are constantly trained and updated with the District's requirement. The rate of student-parent-teacher involvement is rather low due to the neighborhood's population. This school can reach its best potential if the community, especiall parents, involves in their children's academic growth. The school has advanced courses to offer, but they are hardly pursued because the majority of parents are not well-informed or lack of time to pursue the cases. The safety of school is satisfactory. The majority of students are well-behaved.
My child goes to this school. The school has room for growth. The school needs better organization skills and better sports equipment for the kids. Also, better teaching tools where the kids can understand what is being taught to them.
