The teachers at Oak Forest are top notch. I am pleased with all that the school does to challenge the kids. The staff is very safety conscious. Parents are encouraged to be involved. Staff works hard to develop relationships with the students and capitalize on their strengths and help them in areas that need improvement. A gem!

This is still a school centered on the Vanguard children and the stay at home moms. Little interest has been given to those who actually live in the neighborhood. It's a pretty package, but sometimes empty.

Great school! The principal is a go-getter who works extremely hard with her staff. We have been very pleased with the Vanguard Program, especially the outstanding field trips provided for the kids.

Since getting the parents to pay for the $13 million school, they have fallen from exemplary to recognized to acceptable. It seems they are proudest of the nazi-like security which discourages parents from coming to the school. They claim this for safety ... not comforting for the Paschal family. The focus needs to come off the click of stay at home moms who will run from the community when their kids graduate. Focus on the ESL students who LIVE here. And ... my kid is vanguard by the way. I believe all children should be treated equal. When the PTA serves all parents, not just the General Hospital crowd, it will be a better school.

I have a first grader at Oak Forest and we just love the school. The teachers are top notch and the new school building is state of the art. Oak Forest has a strong academic program and there is a high level of parent involvement which I believe is so important.

Vanguard Program (G/T). high quality program. teachers are respectful and helpful. music available, and thorough art recently available (as of this year). overall 8 out of 10---exemplary HISD school.

My daughter's in Kindergarten, in Mrs. Lacefield's class. I must say, I am extremely pleased with not just the teacher's performance and involvement, but the whole school's performance. All the teachers work together, including the Principal to achieve and maintain exemplary standards! I love seeing the student's parents there also. I go up there almost every morning and every afternoon to volunteer, and I see a lot of other parent's doing the same thing. The morale there is so high, it's contagious! My daughter and I both look forward to going to Oak Forest!
