Pershing Middle school is by far the worst school I have ever been too. The teachers there don't really care too much about their student's feelings and are straight up rude. In my eighth grade year, a teacher made fun of a girl and called her dumb to another student while she was in the room and made her cry. This is the perfect example of what the majority of the teachers that work there are like: unjust and cruel. The administration tries to change the negative things about the school but it seems like when things fail, they give up. The so-so education that school has to offer is not worth putting your child through three years of misery.
I just have one thing to say...THIS SCHOOL IS STRAIGHT UP FIVE STAR! You'll love this school so much you will never regret being there. The principle has great leadership and you'll never know she's a principle because she always walk around the school and help out with everything so you'll feel like she's just a teacher and you wont be afraid to talk to her. The teachers here are the most loving, advanced in teaching, and probally the funniest people alive! The students here are very friendly towards other and they absolutely love new students~ I have been in Pershing for 3 years and im graduating this year. My brother is very picky and he was forced to go to this school even though he likes Pin Oak, but now he love it so much he doesnt want to move school anymore~ I would totally RECOMMEND this school because it's fantastic~!
Four Words Cross Country is awesome The Athletics program here is just plain awesome. Cross Country and Track are great. The coaches are friendly, and they help you become a better athlete. The teachers are great, and the class rooms and awesome. I am not gonna lie, it's not the perfect school, but it's as perfect as it will ever get. =]
Our family has been very pleased with our granddaughters experience at Pershing. She has been challenged academically thru their "gifted and talented" program. She has enjoyed a multi-cultural exposure and made many new friends. The sports programs at Pershing have been really great for her. She does at least 3 sports year round and loves playing for her school. This is a GREAT neighborhood school!
Pershing Middle School has been a blessing for our family and neighborhood. Our child will be moving on to High School in 2013 and she will have 3 High School Classes already completed! The Fine Arts program are a plus even though we are zoned and did not need apply. The Vanguard classes employ critical thinking and in my opinion are un matched to any private school in Houston. We are PROUD PANDAS!!!
Sad memories from Pershing, my two kids got bullied in this school and for two years I am not able to reach the principle of this school or find a solution with the principle assistance, every time my kids tried to defense them selves they got punished and if you ask the school to do something, they do not care. Teachers there are unhelpful, screening in their class rooms, and un-understandable to any situation. I spent two years of struggling and tears. I am glad I moved my children away of this disaster environment.
This school has a great group of teachers. We have brought the rating of Pershing up to "Recognize". The school also has great diversity among the student body and excellent extra-curricular activities.
I can't believe the people from the PTO at Pershing Middle School act so rude towards people that need of there assistance especially the lady in charge of the uniforms. Shes supposed to set up an example and be nice to her customers but instead screams at people in public. Pershing staff pay attention to whoever wants to help if they really want to help they should be nicer.
I went to Pershing MS for 6th and 7th grade, all i have to say is I had the best time of my life there and wish I could have gone back for 8th grade to continue going to good classes and seeing my favorite teachers and friends. Although a lot has happened at Pershing, i would still rather go there than anywhere else.
I am a student at this school. I think the teachers are decent but so many of the students here don't know what good learning is! There's too many students here already and it's not a very good school
Pershing has a new principal. She is starting her third year. She has made an amazing improvement in the school. Both the staff and the parents respect her very much. The environment is always positive and the kids are excelling both in grades and in outside activities. You could not pay for a better education.
I have had 2 children go through Pershing Middle School and 1 child is still there. My two high school students are thriving at Bellaire High in both their rigorous academic classes and their social and sports associations. I owe that in large part to the great training, strong academic standards and excellent leadership at Pershing. Even though Pershing is ~1700 students, we never felt lost in the crowd. I actually had a teacher call me at home just to tell me that my child was excelling in class. What public school does that...Pershing! Go Pandas! I am a huge fan of Perhing Middle School.
Last year I went to a private middle school. It was not the best education. I found public schools much better. When looking for schools I came across Pershing and Pin Oak to be the best schools possible. In the end I picked Pin Oak. I am a very happy student at Pin Oak. It is a much better school than any other school I have seen so far. It is very well organized. I recommend Pin Oak. GO CHARGERS! :)
I am a student currently attending Pershing. I think this is a very good school and racially diverse. I am in 8th grade and already have 2 high school credits (algebra and spanish). I will be sad when I leave. I have made great friends and had exellent teachers that actually helped me when I was struggling. The foreign language teachers are really hard and strict but help so much. The fine arts department is amazing and has different levels that you audition for so you actually improve.
This school is AWESOME! The teachers are very knowledgable and show their love and passion for teaching. I went to this school for all three years, and it has improved each time. Pershing Middle School has the most, and the newest technology in all of HISD! Only Pershing has it, and I'm am very proud to say that I went to Pershing Middle School!
I love Pershing. I have so many good friends there. The teachers are great and really help when you don't understand something. The administrators are great, but strict. The fine arts department is amazing. I love the block scheduling, it gives you more time to do your homework. I will be sad to leave Pershing at the end of this year.. I love it here.
My son went to this school a couple of years ago and had a terrible experience. I found the cluster of teachers for his classes to be extremely harsh and negative, not an encouraging word was ever spoken by none of them. The principal was of no help whatsoever when I complained to him.
I have attend this school for about 2 years now and i would have to say pershing middle school is the most pothetic middle school in hisd. My older sister also attend this school for her 6th-8th grade years and she also thought this school was very how I would say pothetic also. I'm in specail ed. math and had done that there and I would have to say if your thinking about sending your child to pershing for special ed. math, I definitly DO NOT recommend it.
